I was wondering, with the IAF wanting 50 additional Su-30MKI quite urgently to address force depletion, with HAL at full capacity and Irkut’s order books full for several years……I wonder if 50 Su-35s from KnAAPO would be an attractive proposition?

From all indications, including a direct statement from a CNS, the MiG-29K is an excellent a/c and the order to buy 29 more only confirms the IN’s faith in an a/c that they have been critically involved in developing.

Of course the MiG-29K is an excellent aircraft- it’s a MiG-29M development (facilitated by Indian $). The IN follow-on order for 29 will probably have the Zhuk-AE- a retrofit is no big deal.
I’d be absolutely staggered if the Kuznetsov’s new air-wing didn’t have the AE.

More interesting still is the avionics upgrade for the 60 IAF MiG-29As, any concrete details anyone? (Sorry to stray outside the remit of this thread).

Hmmm…..so IAF wants 50 more Su-30MKIs and IN wants 29 more MiG-29Ks…this is starting to look like the consolation prize for the MMRCA.
