Somebody tell that (rattled) idiot from ‘Planet Stupid’ not to irritate me with his frivolous existence. Ah what the hell, I’ll tell him myself “Hey, Red-Neck sheet metal-worker, you’ll find none of your ‘intellectual peers’ on this thread, so go dribble your ignorance & stupidity elsewhere.”
JSF for BVR…any day.;)
Yeah, especially the Royal Navy’s Meteors carried on underwing ‘stealth pylons’……please, don’t make me laugh.
The only significant field the Russians lag now are HMDs, and I’m sure their new pals the French will help-out there (as per ‘Damocles’ & ‘Catherine’.
Producing Su-27SM2 & PAK-FA concurrently will facilitate weapons & avionics commonality, Tikhomirov-NIIP’s AESA is slated for Su-27SM2 (Su-35), Su-34 and PAK-FA.
It’s not without good reason the Japanese & Australians want the Raptor, ’cause the PLAAF/PLAAN aren’t rattled by the F-35.
I dont see how it is an overpriced turkey compared to the raptor .
Ok, fast forward 8 years, how do you think an F-35 measures up to an Su-35 + LPI-AESA + KS-172 + ramjet R-77Ms + LO material treated + Thales co-developed/produced HMD- in performance & cost?
This is what the (growing) detractors in Australia think, (and not a Carlo Kopp in sight),- recommend the video btw:
We can also hope that someone might make a mistake and reveal accidentally a thing or two – in the same way that Krilov revealed the 885’s hull.
I believe they’ve already made the mistake- with NPO Saturn’s ‘Blue Raptorski’ rendition, it must have been too close for comfort otherwise it wouldn’t have been pulled. An Indian website pulled the very same picture within 24hrs (2 weeks ago) when reporting Indo-Russian FGFA developments.
It acknowledged for the first time that FGFA would be based on Sukhoi’s PAK-FA, hence no doubt pulled after angry phone calls from Moscow- nothing lost in translation there.
Since the F-22 is the (high) benchmark, I’m cool with a Raptorski, as opposed to that overpriced turkey F-35.

This is going to be a report about the PAK-FA development. There will be interviews with the pilots who are going to test the airplane and probably with someone from Sukhoi. If we are lucky, there might be a 3D model or at least a new artist’s concept. I doubt that the entire program will be without any visual material about the airplane ๐
There’ll be loads of visual material……of Su-35, MiG-29OVT, F-22/35, YF-23, interspersed with beautiful women to dubious rock music -but there won’t be a PAK-FA in sight. Even the KnAAPO website has pulled (written) references to it.
The M. Pogosyan interview will be interesting though- he’s an cool chap, of a plane “that only 3 years ago was a fantasy, but next year will make it’s first flight”– so they conveniently halved the R&D time.
Medal64, all your posts are appreciated.
Corrosion is only a problem for aircrafts not preparated to operate in such conditions, once they follow corrosion-control procedures or receive special treatment, such a problem descends.
AMV Flanker’s fleet received just minor (and now corrected) corrosion problem on first four aircraft that now operates far from coast and pretty good.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…….
Hi Pesho, so what does Lot#3 refer to? A missile engine (X-59M class) or something larger, perhaps cruise missile?
Lots 1&2 for UCAV?
Here you go ink, Official Russian Government Fund Allocation for PAK-FA systems development FY 2008-09 (Lot #4):

Growler vs f-22? NUTS..The growler is a completely different asset as compared to the F-22 which is an air superiority fighter first and foremost .
simple answer ? Ideally (in an ideal scenario) they should recieve their info from any asset with the “right” information and the most up to date information . If their is a soldier on the ground he should be able to provide coordinates , if their is a fighter on the ground doing recce with a pod he should be able to lase the target , if their is an E-8 on the ground it should be able to provide ground movement information to the UCAV-N .
By the way UCAV-N is way way into the future (at any significant strenght level) , the DOD should have a roadmap with datalinks and bandwith about that . Bandwith is still a limiting feature here but they have many years to sort that out (15 , 20 perhaps)
I never made any comparisons between F-18G & F-22- I was merely highlighting pilot workload efficiencies and technological limitations.
As UCAV-N (the highest priority UCAV for the US military) will have long-endurance/loiter capabilities, I’ll bet you anything it’s primary battlespace-info feed will be from a WSO ‘in the loop’ and not from a CVN hundreds of miles away.
As for F-22 strike role in the short-to-medium term, if the need arises, you watch how fast they dust down those F117s & rush them to theatre before they even consider bombing-up a Raptor.
Nice to be civil with you bring_it _on, we should try it more often ๐
So Sensor fusion and integration is a Big Lie ? Or should be wait for the PAKFA to “First ” that one before we start to believe it ?
Come now bring_it_on, you know exactly what I mean. We’re talking about pros of a WSO close to the battle-space in a constantly changing environment. Why do you think the SH ‘Growler’ is a 2 seater?
Do you think N-UCAVs will receive their targetting/battlespace info from their carriers? (where bandwidth is already at a premium) or from a nearby WSO?
However, gone are the days where massive air armies will do battle because IADS has negated their effectiveness. Some day you might understand how NCW changes strategy/tactics through linkage of ground, air, space, and sea surface/subsurface sensors.
I couldn’t agree more:
Are you really a F-22A pilot and can promise all targets are poping up automathically at your AESA display?…
Do you really believe American allways have the right weapon system and you can trust they are right without a profit? All as happen is happen and you dont need to do anything in your F-22A cockpit? ? I think in this forum too many people are reading to much beautifuly coloured broshures and are selfappointed pilots as going to desinform the world with miracles? AESA is of course a big revolution but donโt you need to do anything more in your F-22A than to press on the button for your missile?
I canโt believe God is sitting, for the goodness sake, in the CAOC and doing all that job a pilot need to do in real-time – and that close to the target. All is not poping upp automatically at your screen or at your HUD. You even not always have an AWAC, JointSTARS or JTAC to communicate in real/time. If I am not right, please describe all wet dreams for us other so even we can place an order to buy the Raptor – but dont lie, please…
Yes, but Roffe- on ‘Planet Stupid’ anything is possible!!
Otaku,
Where on the KnAAPO website did you find that acknowledgment?
Hi ink, firstly under heading JSC KnAAPO is…’and the next generation fighter as well’ and then if you click on the large Su-35 front elevation tab it expands to reveal that Gatziel rendition- though no further as the site appears to be under construction.
PAK-FA construction news/milestones are given on the official Sukhoi company website (since Dec.07) but only in Russian.
Russian energy minister claims PAK-FA flight-test programme still scheduled to commence in 2009:
http://en.rian.ru/russia/20080403/102931062.html
Oh, and for the first time, the overhauled KnAAPO website acknowledges PAK-FA production:
$100mil from 2001 are equivalent to $119mil today and to $131mil in 2012.
I’ll go with (a conservative) $80m unit cost @ 2001 prices- notwithstanding cost escalations from sub-contractors like BAE Systems due to the sliding dollar (with significant recovery unlikely in the medium term), and current uncertainties over second engine development.
I suppose with Reuters costing ‘celebrations’ a Congressional Review has been avoided, phew!!- can hold onto my Northrop shares for a bit longer.
