    Might annoy the sergeant pilots

Don’t see why. “Sir” is a mark of respect, not necessarily Commissioned Service related, that has sadly been missing from the way we address each other, especially those we respect, for some time.

I use it frequently in such circumstances.

I am far too emotional to say how much the images in last nights programme pleased and affected me.

Just had a quick look at the (ahem, excuse the pun), Front Page and it’s really good, you have a very great eye for design. Wish I had your talents 🙁

One teeny tiny, absolutely and totally insignificant thing, which you can change in an instant is that the hyperlink word “links” is not in alignment with the other hyperlink words in that row.

Can we have more information on this?

I don’t doubt it exists, but it looks pretty unfeasible.

Where’s the drive to the rotor head, for instance?

And, how did they manage to cram such complicated engineering into such a small space, yet still retain the strength necessary to make it work?

    Indeed, did it survive long?

Is the first Vulcan shot being shown at the correct angle?

What I mean is, the wing and rudder configuration would indicate it is commencing, or engaged in, a heavy roll to the right.

Seriously good idea. Interviews with the various people associated with her in audio and/or video mpeg would be a great attraction – as would short video clips of her being displayed.

    That is one lucky SOB.

However, it does raise a techy question, which someone might be able to answer.

When he bangs out the camera doesn’t continue to roll, and there still seems to be a little room below the plane before the crash.

Does pulling the handle (or whatever) turn off all the electrics too? I’m sure he didn’t hang around just to switch everything off.

Great shame about his career – he is obviously very talented, and I hope he gets the opportunity to fly again soon. After all, many F1 drivers smash their equipment up on a more than regular basis – it might not be quite as expensive per unit, but they’re still the elite of the elite.

As I said in the post programme chat on the C4 website, a similar programme based on Hurricane’s would be a great idea.

I’m sure I saw a Red Arrow (Gnat) do something similar during a display at Finningley in ’73. Not sure it was done on purpose though.

    Ahhhh Astra Cinema’s – now there’s a memory.

Is the one at RAF Cosford still open?

(Sorry this is off topic, but – well, you know)

I’d be very happy to donate my skills to this cause. One of which is the ability to type accurately at 70wpm. RAF Trained Teleop.

I can do both copy & audio (although I don’t have an audio machine) typing in any word processor or publication software you might care to name.

I’d also be prepared to provide “virtual office” facilities – ie secure, shared, storage on-line for storage, editing and retreival of the teams efforts!

Indexing of your CDs, complete with thumbnails, could be done with a program such as Microsoft Access. If you already have a copy, then you’ll find templates to do just that somewhere – online or maybe even in the standard templates. It would be too expensive to buy just for this purpose, however.

I believe, because you have to store the thumbnail within the database, there is likely to be an auto image shrinking function built in (there certainly is in MS FrontPage, as I use it all the time).

Heres a link to a few Art & Photographic Templates for Microsoft Access.

I haven’t looked at these, so can’t vouch for them.

Its worth mentioning that Jasc also sell indexing software, heres a link to their Paint Shop Pro Photo Album which is probably very good value, and downloadable. There’s an evaluation copy available free too.

Also, if you’d like to contribute to helping Avro Vulcan XH558 get back in the air, visit my website – where you can buy a DVD RW drive or DVD/CD RW – either of which would be very useful. 2% of the purchase price is donated to the cause, if you click on the appropriate link there. The actual items are accessible via the RAMMSHACK Catalogue.

View of the general scrapping area at St Athan 1992. Identify what you can!

You didn’t spot the Moggy Traveller I learned to drive in there, by any chance did you?

    😀
