skua in the air
by morten moe Today at 21:34
The blackburn skua is now hanging with its wingtips just above the water. Tail section is hanging at an angle. The structure appears to be very frail, and divers are securing parts thats hanging from the plane. colour on roundels still surprisingly bright.
It still has to be lifted an additonal 4-5 metes to get the plane onto the barge. Fingers crossed, all of u!

Skua on the surface

After nearly 68 years on the seabed of the trondheimsfjord, the skua is back in daylight again. Its now being given additional strapping by divers, before the final lift onto the barge.
Tail fin and engine mounts are above the water, hopefully the whole plane will be out of the water soon.

Hei,
At a Norwegian forum Morten Moe made this posting:

According to the lucky ones who can still be at the skua rescue-operation site (im at work) its now confirmed that the plane is “hooked” and the raising will start in a few minutes. Its estimated that apx. 2 hours is required the raise the plane to a position a few meters below the surface. Divers will then fasten additional straps before the plane is (hopefully) heaved safely onto the barge.

@ Cees,
As known for many years and writen in many books/magazines the G.1 Leegstra and Vos used for there escape to England had construction number 5567, this was a G.1 equipped with P & W Wasp engines! I have inspected the tailboom that is at the Militairy aviation museum, there is a number at this tailboom to. That is 5567!
That does not prove that this tailboom is from the aircraft that flew to England, perhaps another from another G.1 was fitted.
Best regards,
Mathieu
