    Hi,

Unfortunately no photos at the moment, but from what I understand it should be a piece of the exhaust system. Could be from a Mercury or pegagus.

    Regards,

    Mathieu.

Had Pan Am survived, it might’ve ensured it ushered one of its most important aircraft into preservation, just like British Airways did with it’s 707.

    Oh, wait…

I can think of the Seattle machine and Qantas’ example – what others?

    Hi,

Beside the discussion if there is any risk for people who own or look at instruments with radiation, in the Netherlands the law is clear: private individuals are not allowed the have any radio active material. So when you have some instruments and you cast them in a few kuub of lead, your are still violating the law!
The autorities can still confiscate the instruments, even they are not causing danger.

    regards,

    Mathieu

    Hi,

Thanks for all your replies. In fact I was interested to know how many escaped from the continent before the invasion at the 6th of June 1944. I assume that after the invasion it became relatively easy to reach the allied forces. Many civilians in occupied Europe risked there lives by helping these downed airman, I’ve read that is was for the crews always a relieve when the left German airspace, in case they crashed or bailed out in the occupied countries there was at least a change to get help from the resitance.

    Hi,

Nice! But I wonder what the do to prevent that the wrack will rotten in a short time. Attached a few photos of another messerschmitt 109 part that was excavated recently. I managed to get it and now it will be used for the 109 owned by Jan van Huuksloot in The Netherlands.

    Mathieu,

Further to my last Gunn and Philp were RAFVR, the others all Canadians. Philp is the one interred at Ranwerederhem (Deersum) Protestant Churchyard (Source CWGC).

    Hi,

Thanks for your replies! Interesting to find out what happened so close to my house. Tomorrow I’ll make a photo of the grave. Some info about the placename: the place were the graveyard is is Dearsum ( frisian name for Deersum). Until 1984 this village belonged to the municipal Rauwerderhem. January 1984 this municipal merged with some other municipals into a new municipal with the name Boarnsterhim.
@ Cees, getting more interesting, A halifax! I allways thought that is was a Lancaster!

    Best regards,

    Mathieu.
