Any idea who the operator(s) will be?
Educated guess: Martinair Cargo. They did announce an intention to order four new B747-400SF’s through Guggenheim. First one to be delivered november 2006 and the last one late 2008.
Assuming that MP will indeed take them, there are two UFO orders left. Do note though that MP ordered regular 747Fs, not ‘ERFs. So this order may not be related to MP after all.
Very nice! I especially like the F50 shots. How many are left, cause I was under the impression they had all been retired already!
Maybe. I am still in doubt wether to go for Dutch charters at AMS or German charters at DUS. If the weather is bad I might also work on sorting my backlog of 2000+ photos! 😀
The road leading into the airport passes under a taxiway. You can walk here and walk up the embankment for a good view of the planes. It’s roughly a 5 or 6 minute walk from the terminal.
A summary of another story on this airline, but now from the Washinton Post. The full article can be found here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/06/27/AR2005062701754.html?sub=new but a (free) subscription is required.
A 19-month-old Northern Virginia company that planned to launch service this spring […] is still parked at the gate, awaiting final approval from the federal government.
[Maxjet] set its sights on flying to Britain from Baltimore-Washington International Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport sometime this fall.
Maxjet has received initial approval from the Transportation Department, which evaluates the economic health of prospective airlines, to fly to Britain and 14 other countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Chile and Taiwan — destinations the airline has announced no immediate plans to serve.
But the company is awaiting approval from the Federal Aviation Administration, which focuses on safety issues. […] “I would stress that the issues that have to be worked out are not at all unusual.”
“We expect to complete FAA certification in the near future,” Marks said yesterday.

for DSA (Not DCS ;))
That’s strange. Got that code from airlinecodes.co.uk and it is usually very good.
The Maersk shipping company has wanted to sell the airline Maersk for a long time. Does this mean that Maersk Airlines is sold to Sterling?
1) Ryanair has lost slots equating to one daily rotation. So one of their routes will have to go, or will loose one flight.
2) Apparantly AF wants to use A319s, but that seems like massive overkill to me.
3) EIN Regional is a big unknown to me and really to anyone that I have spoken with. No website to be found either. More interesting is that even Eindhoven Airport has not heard from them!
4) Euromanx, not heard from them but they are welcome.
In short, take EIN Regional with a pinch of salt for now.
Take it thats LBA? ;).
That was the polderbaan (18R) at Schiphol.
The A380 would come empty, so it should be possible. Farnborough in the past also handled A340-600s and 747s. The A380 is designed to be able to land on ruwnays that can handle 747s so it should be possible. Wether the taxiways are wide enough I do not know.
Come to think o fit. What happened with the Anotovs? I have not seen any of them whereas there should have been at least two.
LMAO!……we both know which site is better 😀 😉
Well, I should have known. I mean, when this photo was being screened it only had 9000+ hits at JP.
Picking the first photo was a piece of cake. It’s been the best I shot without a doubt, and is now poster sized 30x45cm that is used to hold the wall together. I live in a house that would fall apart without posters of planes, London and girls. 😀
Picking the 2nd photo was a very hard one. In the end it was decided by flipping a coin (flipping it very gently to prevent the house from falling apart on impact ;)). It was either this one, or a cockpit shot of a DC-3 while flying or an Varig MD-11 landing in the snow.
Anyways, click on the photo for a larger version. It’s at JP.net so beware for pop-ups.

Petertenthije ;), is that a museum onboard a 747 or is it part of a museum?
That’s part of the Le Bourget museum.
still no KC767 pics 🙁
The KC767 was not present at the public days. So unless someone here managed to attend at a trade day you will not get them here. I believe airliners.net has a few of them.
