what would be your vehicle for the journey to eternity?

Probably my 1988 VW Golf. If anything happens while I am in that p.o.s. I won’t survive it. 😮

That’s a bit harsh, apart from the THY crash, the DC10 was much maligned through a series of mishaps that were no fault of it’s own. The MD11, as far as i know, apart from the Swissair incident, had an exemplary saftey record

The DC-10 did have a serious design fault. The rear cargo hatch was not strong enough and led to 2 or 3 crashes early in it’s career. They where later redesigned and retrofitted.

Don’t know BMI Baby or the “new and improved” BMI but I have flown BMI 2 years ago 8 times. Always between LHR and AMS. They are a very good airline. Good fares, good planes (young, well maintained), friendly crew and very punctual. Apparantly their on board drinks are no longer free anymore. Well, you won’t miss out on much. 0,25ml of dodgy cola and a cholocat thingysomething.

London City Airport is built in the middle of London docks.

Is the airport accessible by ships…

Small ships are able to go to LCY.

and can aircraft taxi or be towed to ships visiting LCY? Given the short runway of LCY, it might often be wiser to remove a plane by water instead of attempting to fly it out of LCY…

WHY? That does not seem logical at all. Why would you fly in and then sail out?

Not sure why I’m looking so smug in this one. Richard was talking to me about his plans for Virgin India at the time, but I think I was more interested in the girl just to the right of Russell!!

Don’t keep us waiting! Show us the photo(s)! 😀

A report recently released showed last year the Wales Tourist Board and Welsh Development Agency travelled around the world promoting Wales as a tourist and business destination.

That’s a good thing. Everyone does it and I do not see why Wales should not do it. It’s a beautiful environment with a lot of sheep, what more would anyone want?

The Assembly Government pressured Air Wales into starting up a CWL- Brussels service.

Now this is something I do not agree with. The Assembly may give them incentives if they want. But they can not (should not) force any airline into opening a route that can not be sustained, unless the Assembly is willing to refund the losses. Of course the EU will stop any such measures so that is not possible either.

According to airliners.net a TAM A330 has slipped of the taxiway into the grass. Perhaps that hampers operations too.

From what I’ve heard are flights are continueing as scheduled. There are delays though as passengers arrive late or decide not to take the journey while bags are already packed.

How long does it take to build a frikkin runway? 😮 Not seven years, that’s for sure!

The actual building does not take that long, indeed. But getting planning permission is. And once the permission is there you still have to relocate 100s of families to make room for the runway.

You can bet I will be there a few days, and not for the sports! (sorry)

I do wonder if the combined London airports will be able to handle the additional/upgraded flights. At most airports capacity is already getting close. T5 at LHR will help a bit, but perhaps one or two additional runways might be needed as well. LHR would be great but impossible in the timeframe available. STN would be my bet if any runways where to be build.
