Anyone know any more of the YaK-48? Is this project ongoing or cancelled?
Nice photos! Can’t wait to get my hands on a DSLR myself. I will get mine delivered this thursday or friday… a Canon D10 but without lenses. What’s the size of the lense you where using? I’m guessing around 200mm?

I’ve got the 3310 with a 40gb hard drive and am very happy with it. Basically it is just a hard drive with readers for various kinds of memory sticks/cards. It can copy the contents from the stick/card onto hard drive. The memory stick/card can then be formatted in the camera and shooting can start again.
Some of the tanks also have a screen on which you can view the photos. I got the cheap version though so can’t do that! 😀 Mine does play MP3 though.
Battery life is around a full hour and a half. That’s around 2560mb worth assuming you won’t play MP3s (massive energy drain). It has a fixed battery so you can not replace them! Copying 256mb from a USB2 card takes about 5 or 6 minutes. A USB1 card takes longer.

Congrats. I think I am going that way as well before years end. Almost bought myself a Nikon D70 yesterday but the store (Dixons) did not have batteries! Since I am not going to fork out that much money without having tested it at least once I passed.
One word of advice. 350 frames is not a lot when you have a 2 or 3 days trip. If you intend to go on a longer trip getting yourself an image tank is definately recommendable. I’ve got one with a 40gb hard drive for 235 euros (+/- 160 pounds). It handles 7 kinds of memory cards, so even if you decide in a few years to replace your camera you can still use the tank.

No, I’ll be going to the aviation fair and national spotting championships (it does exist!) at the Aviodrome tomorrow.

I have made photos as LCY, both from the main parking lot and in the approach on the London side.
