Is it that time again? I thought the elections where not for another 8 months? Or am I being too cynical now? :p
Congratulations! How did you get the job? Did they tender for a design or did you send your design to them? I’m interested to hear how that all goes, from the initial negotiations with the airline to the final roll-out.
Alright, just heard that EAL_King has not booked a flight yet, so it seems this meet is off as well. If you want to come fine with me, I’ll be there to drive you around but you might well be the only one to join me.
As an aside, at airliners.net there is a meet-up being organised as well. This meet-up will go through unlike all the proposed meets here. Might be of interest as well, it’s on the NON_AV forum under the header AMAZING AMS MEET.
The AMS meet is official, it´s over the weekend so I can come and for as far as I understand EAL_King has already booked and 2 or 3 more are considering.
The BCN meet seems to have been cancelled.
Never mind, i’ve just seen it in the 2nd picture of reply 7. It was there.
nice photos!
Was there by any chance also a black Boeing Stearman (probably “Old Crow”)? It flew over my place earlier today and was wondering what it was doing here.
oh dear
I think ive been to that railway station in bottom right!!!!
I hope not, that “railway station” is a ministry so it is highly unlikely you took the train there. The railway station is just to the right of that ministry but not on this photo.
I have not got many sunset shots as i live quite far away from the airport. I always arrive too late and have to go too early. Maybe that this winter there’ll be more luck with the shorter days.
1) LHR
2) LHR
3) AMS main tower.
4) London. I had hoped to make it to Tower Bridge to make a picture of this sunset with the bridge as a frame, but the sun set too fast so I had to settle for this. Shame really. I believe this is the bridge to Cannon Street station?
That’s a great livery, even better than the current Jordanian livery which is great already!
Another aspect to look at is fatigued pilots – which is a bit invalid because the miltary do it, but they don’t need to think about passenger comfort do they.
In the military they got a nice solution for that. They are called “go-pills”. A dutch documentary revealed that they are no more than XTC (I thought that was it, but it was definately an illegal drug). USAF pilots take lots of them apparantly.
At the moment Tupolev is lacking in production capacity. Even if someone wanted to buy 50 Tu204s Tupolev could not do it.
The reg was originally black characters sprayed/applied directly on to the engine cowling, it only appeared as white characters on the black background after re-emerging from one of the BMI maintenance hangars, not sure what the relevance of that is, but there you go! 🙂

The new registration has probably already been painted underneath the sticker. I suppose that adding a black sticker over it would make it harder for the new livery to be seen.
The refuelling equipment required would make the plane a lot heavier, making the system uneconomical. Besides, with the modern jet engines of today planes can be made that have enough range to nearly fly halfway across the world. There is therefore no need anymore for aerial refueling. Technically it is possible though. The USAF has several tanker/transports that can be refuelled. Those are for the most part converted pax planes.
A stretched 737 maybe, to fill the void between the 737-900 and the 7E7?
As Whiskey Delta said you’d have to stretch the gear. This will be very complicated because not only has the gear to be extended, it will have to be moved further away from the fuselage as well. The gear is already as alrge as it can be. Any larger and the two gears would hit eachother.
