I am surprised EIN gets one more flight, this will be their 3rd destination from EIN. Their other destinations are STN (obviously) and GRO/Girona. Could this be a sign that EIN might be the next eurohub for them?
Can’t say I mind this though. In 2 or 3 weeks I’ll be moving to a place 20 minutes away from EIN airport!
great shots!
The tail on the E190 seems to have had a last minute replacement of the forwardpart, since it is black i.s.o. blue. Looks a bit unprofessional. Quite a shame for such a high profile show. I can’t remember seeing that on the sunday show, but will certainly check the photos when i come back home thursday.
Needless to say that i will also be uploading photos from Farn, as well as LGW and LHR and probably also some AMS as well. For those on dial-up you got 2 days to get a broadband connection! 😀
Best regards from easyEverything at Picadilly Circus!
When is Airbus going to decide not to build the planes in Toulouse, but to make them in Dubai? Most A380s seem to be sold to the middle east.
That was my suspicion.
So why does Gulf Air seem to be the airline failing the most in that region just now?
Gulf Air is owned by a number of Arab countries. Now each of these countries is getting their own mega-carrier (Qatar, Emirates, Etihad……) the willingness to pay Gulf Air’s bills is getting smaller.
Virgin buying A346s is perhaps not surprising, but to buy up to 30 of them! That was quite a surprise for me at least.
Could it be possible for Boeing to stretch the upper deck to the tail and to leave out one (or more) frames behind the wings? Because the rear fuselage is shorter it saves a bit of weight thereby ofsetting the added weight of the upper deck stretch. As a bonus the center of gravity would not move backwards due to the stretched upper deck.
The hump is one of the mayor aerodynamical features that make the 747 as economical as it is. Because of “area ruling” the hump kind a works like a wing, though I do not precisely how to explain it.
And what would this new version mean for the 744ER/ERF. It is not selling very fast right now. Only KLM, Air France and QANTAS operate them? Would the lack of succes of this new 747 scare Boeing away from mayor investment into the 747?
Cool, is that antonov a regular at your local airport?
Looks somewhat like the student house I am moving into 2 weeks from now! (yes, there’s internet so you won’t have to miss me 😉 :D)
I don’t really like this livery on the 747. Based upon the picture it makes the 747 look fat, whereas it is really a sleek plane.
Would the anti-trust authorities aprove that?
Yahooooo, i get a flying 747 after all! I read at JP.net that it will even be one of the special livery planes too!
Probably the rumoured 777 purchase?
Or the totally unexpected purchase of 70 Rekkof F70s to start european flights to feed Virgin Atlantic! Noone expects that, so that mus be what Wys is refering too! 😀 (yes it’s late and I am getting silly)
Maybe it is just the show-sign of the local pub? 🙂
not yet 😀
The tutorial on shrinking planes has been added on my website now.
Oooh!! Hang your heads in shame, the pair of you!! 😉
It’s a Vickers VC9 Vanguard, or “Merchantman” as BEA used to insist on calling them once they’d been converted to freighters.
I’ll bet you didn’t know there was a VC9 as well as a VC10, did you? 🙂
sorry. I should have known that one. 😮
