I am not surprised at Blu1, they are nothing but a regional for SAS (formerly SAS Air Botnia). The only surprising of them joining the alliance is that they do it under their own name, instead of under the SAS name.
Nice Ilyushin! I wish we had more russian equipment here. We only get Pulkovo’s Tupolev 154s.
6) Korean Cargo rotating in great light.
7) Aeroflot A319. Ever since SKynet went belly-up Aeroflot has to bring in their own equipment. Skynet used to do all of Aeroflot’ flights, except for the sunday flight.
8) Peter Max!
9) KLM Cargo B747-400ERF.
10) LOT E170. This has become a regular visitor at AMS. Soon Alitalia will start flying the E170 to Amsterdam.
Good news I must go to Frankfurt soon.Anybody know anything about why Templehof in Berlin is closing.
They are refurbishing Schöneveld, and that airport is going to replace all other Berlin airports. So not only Templehof will close, but Tegel too. When the works are complete Schöneveld will be renamed Brandeburg International.
That’s airport looks really cool. I know the airport itself is closed now, but is the terminal still around or did they level it?
My name is Peter ten Thije ook genoemd Boonkkamp (don’t ask), so tenthije for short.
How many ‘200s are left and on what routes do they fly (in particular between the 25th and 28th of July ;))
congrats! Please continue posting pics like those!
Could it be from another plane flying above the JAL 747?
BTW, did someone notice the shadow of the wing (I think it’s the wing?) on the 2nd contrail from the left? Really a cool shot!
The A340 is indeed a slow climber. That does not usually matter for very long range, but on short/medium range the 777 will beat it. It may burn up more fuel on take-off but it gets faster to the most efficient cruise level thus offsetting the added expense.
As for economics. That is just impossible to say. There are too many variables to say that A is better than B (or vice versa). What routes are being flown, weight, cargo, hot&high requirement, ETOPS requirement and so on and so on.
That’s a nice trick! I might try that some day with my dad’s ancient digicam. Reading posts like this really make me appreciate having forked out a bit more money when buying my current camera. I do have some shutter lag but not much. Right now I am trying to master myself in the black art of action shots with blurred backgrounds.
Arming yourself is only going to make yourself a target. It may be less likely you are going to be attacked, but once you are it will be much more violent. Besides, how can you hide a bat in a way that it will deter the muggers without security seeing it? That’s just ridiculous.
My advice would be to give the whole lot away, and let the insurance company pay up. You can get special insurance for cameras/lenses/binos which won’t cost you a fortune.
Having said that, a tripod/monopod should settle any issues. 😉 (just joking, do not try this at home or at the airport.)
Does it have to be from airlines? Or do, for instance, DC3s and JU52s from museum and the likes count as well?
BASE air was a Dutch airline based at Rotterdam and I believe also Eindhoven. They went bankrupt 2 years ago.
