a ferry flitgh for an engine. Probably somewhere a 747 got stuck with a broken engine and this is a way to get a spare engine there. Most of the time a protective cover is placed over the disused engine, but obviously this is not mandatory.

True, and their subsidiary Contact Air has a dozen or so Fokker F50s. But it is true that no F70/100 are operated by/for LH.

maybe the tint is just to prevent the pilot from being blinded by the bright sun. I don’t know if it works, byt my glasses have a goldish tint over them and trust me, they are not stealth!

Bombardier does not make planes as large as the F100. They have a good match for the F70 though.

At the moment only the E170/E190 is a match for the F100. The A318, B736 and B717 are similarly sized but probably to heavy for the tasks of the F100 and E170/E190.

the top one is a Tu154 from Rossiya. This is the state owned airline. They have some scheduled passenger flights, but most of their fleet is used to transport VIPs, generals, top bureaucrats etc.

Behind it is indeed a DHL Convair.

I first heard about it at a.net. According to the poster there LH was even looking at buying new ones from the proposed restart of F70/100 production.

Sounds very much like a joke to me. Even if they are looking into it, the reason is most likely to put pressure on Embraer, Bombardier and Fairchild/D’Long.

Having said that, I really want them to get F70/100s as they are great planes!

i think they should keep it in AF colours. There are dozens of dakotas in the invasion livery but as far as i am aware this is the only AF liveried dakota.
