Tourists from abroad want to book flights to London. They probably don’t know what the London airports are called. As much as we complain about these “London” prefixes, they make perfect sense, especially for Gatwick.
Bingo!
Yes people in England know Gatwick, frequent flyers know Gatwick and the near neighbours (Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands, Belgium) probably know Gatwick as well. But that is not the case for travellers from further away. Why do you think that every airport even remotely in the London area calls itself London ~~~. It’s very good marketing! Heck, at one time even Schiphol (in jest) called itself the third London airport!
UTAir is not a new airline. They are a rather large Russian airline. Looks like the registration OK-CGT is applied temporarily. The real registration will probably be added in Russia upon delivery.
What’s the significanse of the hydraulic fluid being yellow? Are there different types of hydraulic fluids, with the colours indicating their function? Or is this simply a case of a journalist paid per word, therefor adding useless information? 😉
Somebody will be looking through the classifieds
I doubt you can find a spare door in the classifieds! 😉
How about the deer?
Delivered to catering services.
Oh! boy it gets worse out there.
DG Aviation should ground the flight crew immediately pending investigation/inquiry and reprimand the airline for having inadequate quality on board flight crew training including complete airport orientation/awareness.
Wonder why the “drunken horse” didn’t simply attempt to abort the take off?
I suppose on the way down at Bangalore the touch down for the passengers felt more like riding “a drunken bucking bronco”
I wonder who told the investigators the plane feld like a “drunken horse”. Blue Dart operates cargo flights only. I consider it unlikely the captain or first officer is said that. If they had, they would have they clearly incriminated themselves by making it obvious they knew something was wrong. Was there someone flying jumpseat or as passenger (e.g. load-master)?
I wonder what the weather conditions where like. Very low visbility is probably the only thing that could excuse this blunder. And even then it is not much of an excuse!
Might it be a US Navy Piper PA-23 Apache?
Will the 757 be dedicated to one or two routes, or can we expect her on the entire network?
Babylon 5 was better than star trek anyway….
*tries to make it to the door before baying mob catches up*
I completely agree with you!
*Digs a foxhole and does not intend to change his mind!*
Yes, Ryanair are a lo-co airline. Their costs are low. They may not always pass it on to their customer, but that’s up to them.
It’s always the case that some of the passengers pay low fares, some pay medium fares and some pay very high fares. This case you where the one paying a bit more. next time it will be the guy sitting next to you.
Why would the brakes be hot after a takeoff?
As mentioned by Arthur, the brakes and tires get hot from taxiing. But afterrotation the brakes are also used to stop the tires from spinning in their wheelwells.
I find it amazing that the journalist can claim the AF A330 crash would not have happened had it been equiped with a BUSS system. Considering even the official investigators don’t know exactly what happened I find that statement to be rather premature.
New or used/refurbed?
Fokker went bankrupt about 10 years ago, so these are second hand. Formerly used by the royal Netherlands air force.
The viable parts of Fokker where taken over by Stork, a mayor Dutch industrial company. This includes maintenance of Fokkers and construction of components for amongst others Boeing, Airbus, Gulfstream both for civil and military projects.
Nice photos, Peter, thanks for sharing. I take it the weather wasn’t bad enough to warrant umbrellas? 😀
Fortunately no umbrella was needed, somehow last time I needed it my umbrella was broken by someone who shall remain anonymous. I still have not got a new one. 😀
First photos are in of the Peruvian Navy Fokker F-60. Peru will get two of them and first test and training flights are now in progress from the Fokker works at Woensdrecht (NL). The delivery flight will be made next week.
Both planes have already been painted in Peruvian colours, but for now retain their Dutch registration (U-1 and U-3).
Photos are not mine.
