Take some pictures and post them here for those of us in far away lands!!!
Will definatly try. But they are making it hard on us with choices! Go to London for the G20 or the Netherlands for the Aghanistan summit. Well, I “choose” to stay back home. Even more choises. Do I go for the ETA AMS 20:00 Russian IL96, or the ETA RTM 18:50 Afghani 767. Doing both will be impossible due to traffic. I think I will stay the morning at AMS, and around 15:00 head down to RTM. The Afghani is extremely rare, whereas the IL96 is merely very very very rare! 😉
Hi guys,
Don’t know if this is the place to give this information, but just want to give you a heads up:
IL96 AMS LHR SDM9005
This aircraft will depart AMS 31/03 at 1935
Grtz
You would not happen to know when it will arive in AMS?
Well, I suppose I might as well add some more upcoming flights to the London area:
Japan Air Force 747, Flight 001:
STA LGW 01APR 22:50LT from HND
STD LGW 03APR 12:30LT to HND
Japan Air Force 747, Flight 001:
STA LGW 01APR 23:20LT from HND
STD LGW 03APR 13:00LT to SPK

A middle aged male Australian cousin is coming to visit . Any suggestions for a typically British gift ? All we can come up with is Union Jack underpants and Marmite .Humorous suggestions welcome too , I could do with a laugh .
A train-set with a train that does not work?
An STD from a chav?
Fish & chips with malt vinegar.

AeBal
AirTran
Midwest
TurkmenistanMost of the aircraft have stayed with the original airline…
Also Hawaiian quite like them:
AirTran and Midwest I believe are scaling down. Aebal has retired them and continued with their MD-80s and B738s. Olympic has retired them.
..or the B757, or the MD-11…
The 717 and ’11 never lived up to promises and where not that popular with the airlines either. By the time they closed the line there were no sales and due to the crappy economy back then no orders could be expected. Since Boeing already had planes in that market range (B736, B763/B772) there really was no reason to keep the line open.
Notice how few of the original B717 operators still got them. Most of them have retired them or scaled back their operations. The MD-11 is much the same. I think KLM i snow the only passenger airline, with perhaps Finnair having one or two pending the delivery of their new Airbusses. Only cargo operators are happy with the MD-11.
The B752 line was very popular. But there where no orders and the economy was in the crapper. It is prohibitively expensive to keep the production line in slumber-mode waiting for the economy to pick up again. In retrospect you could argue they could have made a few dozen white-tails but even that would have been a mayor financial risk.
I would not be surprised if the B767 joined the B717, MD-11 and B757 before the years over. Now the USAF tanker project has been shelved there really is not need for it anymore. The few that where sold the last 2 year where sold at heavy discount just to keep the line open, or where used as compensation for the B787 delays.
Would the desroyer not cause so much wake and noise that the (submarine) intelligence gathering capabilities of the spy-ship are severely impacted? So this would be more a case of showing the flag than actually gaining any hard intel? Or are the spyships sensor capable of cutting through that? Honest question, not stirring as I honestly don’t know!

The curse strikes another victim! 😮
Joking aside, sorry to hear about it. But I do agree with Bmused that it is likely more will follow.
Even if it is a flop, they can easily reconfigure the A318 for normal European operations.
True, but I had not even expected them going ahead with A318s. I had expected them to convert the order to A319/A320. Or if it was to late to convert, to sell the plane on to…. well, yeah, neva mind. 😉
Interesting to see this go ahead. I had expected this to be oneof the first casualties of the current economic crisis. After all, BA no longer has to fight the carriers offering a dedicated premium project. They have all gone bankrupt: Silverjet, Eos, Maxjet etc.
Did not make it myself, only host it for someone else. I don’t have sat-nav myself so don’t know how it works (assuming it does :D). The data is probably slightly outdated as the old Kaagbaan spot is still indicated. However, as you already know you can still spot about 1km down the road from the old spottersite.
