Yeah, tail scrape at take-off (!). Gossip goes the damage extends to before the aft pressure bulkhead. If so getting the plane fixed again might indeed well be beyond economical.
Some data copied from Pprune:
-no loadsheet error (all wgts correct, loaded according to loadplan)
-cg well within limits (zfw 25pct mac)
-payload 107.5t
-no load shift as a/c full
-fob 99t
-all frt was reweighed. result 300kg difference
Funnt thing was the BAe 146-300 that was to have them and the prototype at least had them but it was quietly dropped

I’d love to see pictures of that, as I have never heard of that before! Not even the RJX prototype at the Manchester AVP has them!
A winglet only makes money when at cruise altitude. Therefor, the longer a plane flies at cruise altitude, the more time there is to earn back the investment and additional expenses (extra weight, maintenance etc). A turbo-prop typically flies short hops only, and therefor is not at cruiselevel long enough to warrant the investment.
The Starship, being mainly used for corporate/medical flights, flies longer distance then an airline operated Fokker, ATR or Dash. The Beech has me puzzled as well. However, the Beech is also used a lot for corporate/medical, so it might well be that Beech offers them as standard to simplify their production line!
Edit: another reason for the winglets of the Starship is because they also act as rudder. A conventional rudder would not work on the starship as it would interrupt airflow to the props.
p.s. The Starship has been retired and except perhaps for one or two museum pieces all destroyed.
I love the way Ryanair prices their flights. When flying Ryanair it is always for short trips, 3 or 4 days max. I can do with hand-luggage, do not particuarly care for priority boarding (not done at my local airport anyway) and will gladly check-in from behind my computer. It saves me a lot of money! I do agree on your credit-card charge rant though.

That’s surprising. Just a few days ago it was announced on the news that certain restrictions to become pilot (eyesight, length) are to be made less strict as well. Reason for this is because the KLu is having difficulties recruiting enough pilots. I suppose that will have to stop now.
Good evening!
I’m new to this forum and I shall first introduce myself to you! My name is Erik and I’m a spotter from the Netherlands. Mostly I’m active at Schiphol but nowadays you also see me a lot at Eindhoven Airport. This because of the military activity at Eindhoven.
For the coming summer I’m planning a trip to England. I would like to visit the following airports: Stansted, Gatwick, Luton, Heathrow, City Airport and last but not least Manchester. I know that this seems a lot, but it is my vacation after all.
I’m hoping that you guys will share some tips of spotting at the various fields. And which spots at the airports are really worth visiting and which aren’t?
Hoping to hear from you!
Grtz, Erik
Goede avond!
Welcome to the board. Could you please let us know how you intend to go there? Will you have a car, or are you dependant on public transport?
All above mentioned airports are very good, except for Stansted. At Stansted spotting is very hard.
Yes guys, my excuse is I was driving, McDonalds take away in my lap, mobile phone in one hand, camera in other hand, and totaly concentrating on the girl in the mondeo in front ! so bum photo ! Keith.
You’ll have to explain me how to take a photo of a girl’s bum when she is in a car in front of you… while you are eating and calling! 😀
So, what is your insurance premium anyway?
Tenthije – What work would someone in the DHL airfreight Tamworth office do?
It would not be at the airport, neither is a position at the airfreight department guaranteed. There are open positions in trucking in other departments as well. You’d be arranging transports. Could be continental (trucking) or internationals (air/ocean).

Very nice. Do you know when it got this paintjob, cause not that long ago it received a KLM livery. That must have been a very short lived paintjob.
My company, DHL Exel Supply Chain, has recently gained a few big accounts. I believe our Tamworth branch is hiring now. I do not know if positions are available at the airfreight department, but you might want to try your luck. I can not supply you with a few contact though as I only got limited contact with Tamworth branch.

The plane is still uglier then the photo, so I’ll let it pass. :p

Would not mind someone giving me a Sciroco though. Having said that, if it where my money I’d go for a Golf. In the final analysis the Sciroco is just a overpriced Golf. I got the spam advertising this morning from the dealer. It’s a cool 10.000 euros more expensive then the new Golf VI coming out soon.
p.s.: does anyone else also think the back of the car looks very Peugeotish?

so for the last few mornings I’ve been seeing those new FDX 752’s do touch-n-gos @ KTYS. Why is this, and why are none of the flights being tracked?
I’m am confused.
Dave
Training flight or testflight (after cargo-conversion and/or heavy maintenance) would be the most likely answer here.
