I bought a book of MiG-31 of these series its a great job by the legend man Yefim Gordon, its a full story for this interceptor, and hundreds colour pics, but I think its lacking for some details, like(cutaway drawings, pics for Kazakhistan AF)
before I buy the rest, what about both books Su-27 and MiG-29(I mean pics, cutaway drawings)?
thx
Don’t know about the Su-27 book, but both the MiG-29 and the Mill-24 have no cutaway drawings. Lots of 3-view drawing and pics (mostly b/w) though. Including pics from during development.
Can’t tell anything about the information in the book. Only just stated the Hind book, and have yet to start the Fulcrum book.
Nice photos, but I see that quite a few of them are overexposed. I think you would be wise to underexpose by 2/3rd or by a full stop. This will prevent the many shades of white/grey to become one big block of white.
I did a BSc(Hons) in Air Transport Management at Loughborough University. Sometimes wish I’d done something more generic, such as and economics or a business course. However, I enjoy my job now, and my degree was of course directly related.
I think you make a good point here. The aviation industry is a volatile industry. It has mayor ups and downs every 5 to 6 years depending on outside factors. Factors that can not really be influenced by the industry itself. Think for instance of terrorism, epidemics (aviary flew etc), politics, and the usual general economic trends.
To be “stuck” with a aviation only education can be risky. I would advice to take a more general education that can be easily applied to aviation as well as trucking, shipping, warehousing and similar industries.
I followed International Logistics at a BSc level. When I left college the aviation industry was in deep troubles. When I went to search for a job I found one in under 4 months. A mate that studied aviation logistics at another college and graduated at the same time had to look for a year. By now I got a fixed contract with a recent promotion. My mate has a contract, but will have to wait a bit longer for promotions.
BTW, I work not in airfreight but seafreight. Mind you, my company has a sizable aviation department and I have helped them out from time to time with “spotter knowledge”. Stuff like “will this fit in a specific plane”, “what airline flies from CQD to SOS” etc. So I got a foot in the door if I ever want to leave the ships behind me.
Released after only five days, she is now in home detention due to a medical problem.
Withdrawal syndrome?

The last I heard, not too long after the ‘official’ collapse of Alpha1, Martin had opened a music shop. Judging by the success of Alpha1, it wouldn’t surprise me if that too had gone belly-up.
Does seem to be the way his businesses go. Anyone remember anything about aviation magazine he was supposed to start? Something called Aviation Reality Check. I wrote an article for it and supplied a few pics, but never heard back about it. Must have been in the june ’04 period.
Hi,
I am not sure if your Fotopic website will allow hotlinking. That depends on the kind of subscription you got. If you got the full package you can do the following:
http://WWW.TYPE_THE_HOTLINK_TO_YOUR_PHOTO_HERE.JPG
Now remove all arrows with brackets to activate the code.
If your site does not allow hotlinking you can always upload your photos to Imageshack.us and post the photos from there.
On behalf of the Dutch I would like to apologize for giving the world speedcameras and Endemol.
Someone should shoot the program developers at Endemol. Should bring in sufficient organs to save a lot of people.

I’m with Paul on this one. I think its vomit-inducing.
amen
Please tell me this will stay on the isles alone? No side-trips to Europe (AMS).
The trip was arranged weeks ago and from a purely spotting point of view it was a very successful day indeed, Peter. 🙂
Aah I know what you mean. I go spotting in Zurich next weekend, and the weather forecast is not that good. But at least London has the Virgin Megastore in which one can waste an hour or more. Nice museums etc…. got no clue what to do in Zurich if weather is indeed too bad to go spotting. At least I am going with a group so it will be fun regardless.
Why would you want a converter on the 50-500? You want to check if the moon landing was real or not? Please send me a copy of your shot of the tranquility base, cause I would finally like some definitive proof. 😀
Seriously though, shooting at 500mm by hand is already tough enough. And with analogue you can not just happily shoot away hoping to get that one good shot. I would not put a converter on it.
Considering the weather they did not come out too bad.
Maybe next time check the met office before going?
Well, London Stansted is so far from London, it is not even in the A-to-Z. So they had some difficulty finding the proper name. Much like most of their destinations really… Brussels South ain’t Brussels you know. 😉
