IF this project will go ahead the wings won’t be build in the UK anymore. Shorts was kind enough to destroy the tooling almost at their first opportunity. Short’s owner, Bombardier, was all to happy to see Fokker go and did not mind to make any restart harder. Insiders mention that a new wing(s) has been made in the Czech republic. It is slightly different then the current F70/100 wing, though cosmetically the winglets would be the most obvious stand-out.

The engines are rumoured to be the same as on the 717. Not RR, but BMW.

    Great shots.

Being so close to Heathrow, the sight of a British Airways 747 isn’t too exciting. I’m far more interested in the engine-less A320 there! :p

To each their own. I’d have a good day if that S340 dropped into AMS. BA 747s, assuming there have been no new deliveries in the last 2 years I got them all so am not bothered.

The FlyBE shot is ace! Well timed with the rainbow immediately behind the junglejet.

I like the PIA and cathay cargo-bullet.

As for the white Titan 757. Will it be painted soon? Because most of the time they are painted at my local field EIN. Would be nice to see it around here. If I am not mistaken the next plane to enter the paintshop arrives tomorrow, but I do not know which airline or even the type. According to sources it would be a “familiar” visitor. That would cetrainly describe Titan.

Well, I was once told to sit at the emergency exit of a KLM A330 instead of the normal row I was assigned (one row behind emergency aisle). While boarding the steward found the two old people to be a bit of a safety risk in case the emergency exit where needed. So since I was one of the last persons standing at the time I was offered the aisle.

So the only tip I can give is to board the plane with no real hurry. If you are the last person standing, and someone needs to be bumped from the emergency exit, you might very well get it. Of course being polite and looking moderately fit does help here.

Was rather cool to have over a metre of leg space!

Well, if they decide to make that spot official, let’s just hope they won’t ban spotting elsewhere around LHR. Because the spot proposed would face the sun most of the day, only be good late and summerdays only.

My hope is that BAA will allow spotters at the top deck of the new T5 parking garages. That should be at around the same height as the planes on final approach to 09L (or is that 27L, keep mixing them up). Get some winds from the east and that spot would be ace!

Also, check the directions of the proposed “new” spot.

Please remind me, how many runways does LHR have?

Excellent photos. Especially the mountain view from inside the plane. For some reason my shots from the air always end up very blurry/soft. What settings did you use, any use of filters?

The Palmair 732 does it for me too! Always nice to see a classic. Especially one that has no hush-kit!

How was your flight on Binter? I keep hearing about them having some unique ways of approaching airports. Brick-like landings and stuff! I assume you survived them? 😉

Reason it is not selling is due to them not being offered by leasing companies, since they consider the plane too big a risk. Few airlines buy their planes outright.

While I am not familiar with the Tucano, I do know that similar planes have been sold as well. In NL for instance there is at least one PC-7 (PH-JWF) in civil hands.

While progress can’t be stopped, I would have hoped for it to take a bit longer. Imagine your airport in ten years time: boeing, boeing, airbus, boeing, airbus, embraer, airbus, airbus, boeing, airbus, embraer, airbus…… 🙁

On top of that, if you where to drop the lense by accident you will have a 15cm “crumbling zone”. It may damage the hood, but at least the glass won’t hit the ground.

When facing the sun always use the hood. When the sun is in your back you won’t have to use the hood. However, I always found it easier to put the hood on, because otherwise the hood would go over the focusring (or was it the zoomring?). This makes it less easy to use.

I’ve always wanted to visit this place. Could you give me a few pointers? How to get there, what days/times are busiest? What days there is no activity at all? Will probably go there this summer, might combine it with Fairford.

    Some from Dusseldorf( i think??):

The EasyJet above is not from DUS. Firstly, EZ does not fly to DUS but also the surrounding is much to green. My best guess is that the EZ was shot at CGN. This airport is surrounded by a nice forest and if I am not mistaken EZ does fly here.

The other shots are indeed all from DUS.

    Nice photos!

I did miss the ‘Star in a reasonably priced car’ session.

You had three “stars” driving in three very reasonably priced cars racing eachother half way through the US. Not enough? 😉
