Thanks again everyone for the comments, it’s always worth the time and effort when I get such a friendly repsonse! There could well be a final thread of AMS shots in the future…
There had better be. I am anxious to see your take on the Antonov. Or did you already post it? Might have missed it as I only got limited access, only at work when I can waste a few minutes. The home connection is down.
I thought that at the time SABENA (or rather DAT) was looking at the F70/F100 and not at the RJX. Obviously when Fokker went belly-up those plans where put into disarray, but at that time I believe the RJX had already been cancelled, or am I mixing up the timeline?
Why can some people start a fight in an empty house?
:diablo:
Just so you all know, I am offering my house for this fight. Just be quick cause in a few days I will get the carpet in and I do not want bloodstains on it. Ooh, and do not touch the walls since I just got wallpaper on them! 😀
For EIN the choise is between an Air Mauritius ATR 72 and the Antonov 225. Am going for the Antonov for best movement:
For AMS the best visitor that I spotted was the Canadian North F100, fresh from the paint shop. And thankfully still in PH-LMV registration, a reg I had been hunting for since KLM Cityhopper parked the plane a year or so earlier. Close second is the Great Wall Cargo 747F, the airline had two planes but lasted only a few weeks before being forced to liquidate due to political wrangling. Managed to get both planes!
So many choises, unlike last year there is not really any shot that jumps out to me for photographic quality. So I am left to choose for memory value I suppose. That narrows it down to ZRH, New York and An-225 at EIN. ZRH’s airside tour wins here, even though I am still disappointed that no widebodies where in the shed:
I like the panning shot of the F70. Also, considering the distance involved the MD11 turned out pretty well!
Are 5 seperate threads really necessary?
Achieved in 2006:
* Bought a sigma 70-200 2.8 (which is in the repair shop at the moment :()
* Second most popular shot of the week at JP.net… before they started listing them on front page.
* First trip outside Europe (New York with layover in Detroit)
* Made a photo of the An-225 parked at EIN.
* Spotted a few IL-76s, but no good photos.
And achievement that are not photography related:
* Finally at long last got myself a flat of my own! Am now in the process of moving which will take another week or 3.
* Got myself a permanent contract at work.
* A new(er) car.
All in all a very good year.
Hopefully 2007 will bring:
* Good photos of IL-76s.
* Pic of the week at JP.net.
* Photo of An-225 in the air (preferably final approach).
* Another vacation to the US. Probably a week in Washington with a day or two in Atlanta for spotting since there isn’t much else there.
* Small weekendtrips to ZRH, MAN and MAD.
* Hopefully the canon 100-400L, but that is unlikely due to me moving which costs a fair bit.
* Getting my money back from collegues and house mates… should go a long way into funding at least the ZRH and MAN trip. Ain’t gonna happen though. 😡
AFAIK they choose the yellow color because they have noticed that the blue aircraft was hard to spot on pictures in the TUI catalog showing the aircraft mostly in a clear blue sky.
I have heard companies come up with some stupid reasons to rebrand, but this one has got to be the best!
On top of that, for most areas of NRW you can receive BFBS radio.
Perhaps we should move the thread to general discussion?

From the Netherlands myself. Originally came from Zelhem which is a stone throw away from Emmerich (Kreis Kleve) in Nordrhein Westfalen.

Nice photos, look forward to the rest.
I hope you had no dificulties finding your way back from the Kaagbaan to the terminal?
Also, I have noticed the 777 above is already at JP! Fast screening! I’d put up the 330 too, that’s the best of the lot.
Surprising choice of aircraft type there, too.
You could have knocked me down with a feather when I saw that it will be operated with Fokker 50 equipment. 😀
Why is it surprising that VLM is going to use a F50 on the route? What other type would an airline operating only F50s use?
