Can’t speak for Russia, but in the Netherlands the number of muslems has been increasing steadily. But to say they are becoming the mayority? Well, they got quite a way to go. Here are the most recent stats I could find. The percentages below have been gathered from the national statistics bureau CBS.

       year   muslem   christian   no religion
       1993   3,7
       1994   3,9
       1995   4,1
       1996   4,2
       1997   4,4         53            39
       1998   4,6         52            41
       1999   4,9         51            41
       2000   5,1         51            41
       2001   5,3         51            41
       2002   5,5         51            41
       2003   5,7         49            42
       2004   5,8         50            42

As you can see, each year the number of Muslems in NL increases by 0,02%. In real terms that means roughly 30’000 to 40’000 per year. In 2004 there where 944’000 muslems in NL. So this year will probably see the 1’000’000th muslim.

It is also immediately obvious that the number of christians is much larger, though dropping slowly. The number of christians is even larger then the number of people without religion, which I must admit surprised me. I had expected there to be more atheists in the Netherlands. The number of atheists is on the rise though.

For the christian/atheists I only got information from 1997 to 2004, and no numbers behind the decimal mark. Please bare that in mind when looking at these statistics.

I have not got more recent information and can honestly not be bothered to look them up as I feel this will illustrate my point quite nicely already. 😉

Lastly, bare in mind that the average European muslim is a lot more liberal then your average Saudi muslim. So even if they where to become the mayority in a few 100 years, then I still would not expect Sharia to be introduced. They do tend to be a vocal lot though!

Dutch automotive pride! DAF trucks may be the better known Dutch automotive company, but Spijker makes nicer cars!

FWIW, the UK registration is only temporary. At least for G-CELD it is. It will a receive Kyrgystani registration (EX-???). Not sure if the other 2 will also get Kyrgystani regs, but it seems likely.

sorry not paying attention – AtlanticStar already mentioned this

Yep, they are banned alright due to our nice palls at the EU.

Only military, humanitarian and maintenance flights are still allowed. Not even 100% sure about the maintenance flights either. I know a few of them pop into Woensdrecht from time to time but they tend to be military VIP planes from Africa and South America so that might fall under military.

Do i share that feeling with just myself?

I know that feeling. But practise makes perfect, take the right eye on the viewer, and the left on the plane. You’d think it would not work, but it does! After all, an Apache pilot looks with one eye outside, and one eye into his/her eyepiece-gadget-thingy.

Since I started a little under 10 years ago I acumulated roughly 10’000 photos of which most are digital. However, I never kept track of the photos I deleted so odds are that the number of shots I made are double or tripple that.

I read that as well a few days ago at the dus-spot forum. The first time in ages that I got my entire weekend booked full, and the A380 drops into an airport near me. Ooh well, at least Barcelona will have proper weather! 8)

The FAA only governs US planes and planes that fly to the US. So if you happen to have a G-registered BBJ and fly a lot to the US, then you would have to make the mods.

Mind you, normally the European autorities are quick to follow FAA airworthiness directives. Likewise, the FAA follows the JAA when they issue a directive. When safety is concerned there should be no corner cutting. Besides, chances are Boeing will make it a mandatory directive themselves thus bypassing the need of the JAA to do anything but rubberstamp the Boeing directive.

oooh dear… replacing the beautiful S taillogo with a bunch of polka dots. Better get back to BRU again before all planes are painted over.
