I have to say, I’m not a fan but maybe they’ll grow on me?

Dragging up a 10 year old post!? I started reading then double checked when it said ‘latest A340-500’, thought it was a typo

Same. I have to say, I was a little surprised when I read they were investing so much in first class. Then I saw the topic was posted in 2003. Last week they announced they’d be replacing it with business class on a large number of A380s due to “unsatisfactory loads”.

This one also comes to mind, http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/GBOAG/G-YMMM.jpg

Slightly off topic, whilst searching for images of G-YMMM. I came across this article. Fascinating final moments http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-509646/Caught-camera-Last-moments-Flight-BA38s-dramatic-descent-Heathrow.html

Nice set. How can they call themselves London Luton? It looks like it’s very much in the countryside to me.

Ex-United Airlines aircraft are especially obvious.

    Ye, them and KLM

Another reason that springs to mind is corporate image. A load of aircraft sitting in a desert isn’t an image I expect most airlines want to associate themselves with.

So all these other faults are a joy in store for the likes of United, Qatar, Ethiopian, LAN and LOT once their aircraft hit higher hours to? Nice… :p

I knew I’d heard of cracked wind-shields somewhere before,

I wonder what kind of compensation JAL and ANA will get from Boeing?
As the WSJ pointed out, both airlines have tied their future success to this 1 aircraft (both airlines will be in the top 3 largest 787 operators).

Also, why does it appear to be the Japanese 787s that have the majority of the issues? They make up ~50% of the global flying 787 fleet but appear to get ~75% of all the issues.

I get where Alex Jones is coming from, although the way he put his point across was fragmented and delusional to say the least.

Guns are just as dangerous in the wrong hands as knives and baseball bats. By banning guns, people will just move onto the next alternative and does not address the underlining human behavioural issues.

But where I disagree with Mr Jones is where he says people need automatic assault riffles to defend their families. I appreciate the American way of life and culture and understand banning all firearms is silly and highly controversial, but there is no justification for sleeping with an assault riffle under your pillow. It’s way over the top! A handgun will suffice and stop any intruder; leave assault riffles for the war-zones, they have no place in a home.
Then hopefully we’ll see a reduction in mass shootings, which is why the 2nd amendment was called into question in the first place.

I don’t understand? Your picture confirms the A320 fuselage is not made out of composites? There are select parts, yes, such as the vertical and horizontal stabilizers, the under-fuselage wing join and the undercarriage doors. But most of the strain from pressurisation will be felt by the aluminium alloys (shown in pale yellow).
