In theory I have nothing wrong with unions. They ensure fair, decent pay and working conditions for the working man but in practice they’re unreasonable and counter-productive on a national scale. She was the first (and last) politician with large enough balls to take them on, and for that I salute her.
But it wasn’t just her work at home that earns my respect, under her leadership we forged and strengthened some of the greatest international alliances this world has ever seen.

“this great lady has not only served her country well, she has served the free world well. She is truly a great statesman. So much so that I’ll correct what I just said: She is a great stateswoman holding her own among all the statesmen of the world.”
Political ally and close friend Ronald Reagan

How do you do it Culpano? Another flawless set 😀

That landing Monarch A330 is particularly striking, as is the rocket launch A321.

Truly amazing set as always Culpano. That Air India tail certainly does stand out once the sunlight hits it and the Aeroflot livery suits wide-bodied twins like a glove doesn’t it!

And that AA 777 ! It’s lighting like that that means I will really miss the polished aluminium. Great Thai 747 photograph as well :p

If Tesco Value ever did flights, that would be the livery… And have they used a Microsoft Word font for the ‘Friendly Low Fares‘? :O But good shots all the same Keith.

Only stuff through the grape vine at the moment 🙁 but I hear MAD is a strong contender and perhaps AMS.

When it comes to adoption, surely we should be doing what we think’s best for the children. Rather than what we consider best for society?

Given a choice between living with a caring and loving couple or months in a deprived council run foster establishment. I think I know which one they’d rather have?

    Thanks MSR, Tom, Heslop.

I think it would look better in the same metallic red scheme the wide-bodies are in? But a great livery all the same.

Great news for both Boeing and BA, I expect another A380 order is on the horizon too.

A fleet of 12 Airbus wide-bodies almost isn’t worth the trouble where commonality is concerned when every other long haul you fly is a Boeing. I can realistically see another commitment for 12 being signed bringing them on par in terms of numbers with Lufthansa, Singapore and Qantas.
Either that or perhaps a large A350 order? Maybe with a hundred odd cheap A320NEOs to sweeten the deal? :diablo:

I knew it would look great when they ordered it, back in 2007 and she certainly hasn’t disappointed 🙂

But does anyone know why they’ve gone for a lighter shade of blue on the bottom of the fuselage? It looks tacky, or is it just the light?

I’m actually a big Airbus fan-boy, but the figures speak for themselves; estimated 787 development costs are estimated at $32B, A350 at $16B.

(I do appreciate these are only estimates and no-one but the men in suits really know, but it does show a disparity).

Let us not forget that Boeing trumped Airbus in orders and deliveries last year (although I expect Airbus to regain the former title again in 2013).

To say Boeing is lacking innovation I believe is unfair; the 787 is a hub for innovation surely (particularly with regard to the composites).

And whilst Boeing may keep it’s models rolling off the production line longer than most (eg 737, 747 etc), they do invest more in the initial design and produce a superior initial product.

So what do we reckon? A stopgap until the 777X is available, or is IAG seriously considering batting for the other team?
It’s strange, for months Walsh’s rhetoric has made it sound like they’d be ordering the 777X over the A350.

I expect the old boys in Chicago are scratching their heads this morning :p

Very nice shot Culpano! I can imagine this is a difficult shot to get but you seem to have pulled it off nicely.

    Thanks Rob, EGTC, Culpano.

A lie in this-morning was tempting, but having checked the weather I knew the best was before 10, so that limited me to the 08:45 arrival 🙁

And EGTC needless to say both of those operations were short lived. I was looking at the Little Red fares on the VS website and I have to say they look very reasonable… Almost too reasonable! In-fact I’m surprised they have seats left at the prices they’re selling them for.
