We operate 1000’s of Dell’s (probably 10’000’s country wide) and judging by the number of Dell’s appearing in banks etc. I’m inclined to think that they’ve probably overstretched themselves and are letting their standards slip.

The interim fix for my machine was a PS/2 mouse and it behaved ok. Unfortunately with no USB ports I couldn’t use my PDA, the CD Writer or download photo’s – all part of my job! Hence the muppet show when IT Support (snort!) came to fix the problem..

    Sorry to hear that Melv.

Might I suggest that you give them a flying lesson? Take them up, push them out and if they learn to fly before they hit the ground all well and good. If they don’t, well, just put it down to evolution in action. I would also suggest (in the interests of safety) that a piano wire is attached between the students testicles and a suitable hardpoint in the aircraft. Then at least if they do learn the art of missing the ground at least they won’t be able to reproduce.

Chav scum, the lot of ’em.

If there’s any practical help needed, get in touch.

SOC – you have my sympathy!! We’re looking to breed our two kittens when they’re old enough, so we may have up to 10 little ones at once. Gulp!

Daz – Dollie (the 3 year old) has got the same sort of eyes as you describe. Sometimes there’s no iris at all visible, just two black holes!

Arrrrrgh DELL! What has happened to them? My new work PC lasted 3 hours then failed completely. The replacement lasted a week before the USB ports failed. When the IT support Chimps^^^^^^Engineers tried to change the main board somehow the PSU and processor failed (I wonder if the lack of anti static straps during the repair may have been a factor – surely not!!!).

Dell have lost a potential/future customer here I’m afraid.Once is misfortune, twice is carelessness; three times? We’ve used Dell at work since 1997 with no problems but apparently the most recent batch are failing quite regularly.

Good point Jasop – I’ll see if I can find the answer out. I think AA are operating on a basis of 25 pieces of self loading freight per trip so this may be the way around.

I mean our beloved leader, the peace loving Mr B’Liar would obviously have applied some degree of sense to such regulations in order to exclude this sort of of operation.

Why is everyone laughing? Oh I see…

Ouch! Is that a DAMHIKIJKOK? [1]

    JC
[1] Don’t Ask Me How I Know, I Just Know, OK? – usually “DAMHIK…” suffices. Shamelessly stolen from the Biker forum I frequent.

Some things wot I have learned about Dakota maintenance:

    1. When removing an engine, it’s necessary to move the prop from it’s “Y” position. If you forget this has happened, it hurts.

    2. P+W 1830’s hold a lot of oil, unfortunately not for very long.

    3. When working at the front of the cabin, a dropped tool won’t stop rolling until it gets to the cargo doors.

    4. It’s a little tricky to get on the wing without steps/staging. However, it’s very easy to fall off.

Anyone got anything else to add? I’m sure this list will grow!

However, I’m happy to see the questions on here. Personally I’ll research first and ask questions later, but sometimes it’s nice to see the answers to questions I hadn’t thought of 🙂

Another point is that this is a discussion forum. A comparatively straightforward question may generate some previously undeveloped angles or research.

For those of you dedicated enough to create books, consider the interest that a question asked may generate in your work 🙂

They’re actually very good natured – The kittens can be a little over exuberant but a little bit of firm discipline has reduced the amount of blood spilled quite considerably! The adult is so gentle it’s untrue, although a moving foot or hand under the bedclothes WILL be savaged with no mercy. And woe betide anyone or anything that gets between a Bengal and it’s food, as this brings out a bewildering array of noise from Growling to “ROWOWOWOW” (usually while the chicken leg or peice of steak that’s been pilfered is being consumed!). They pretty bright as well – meat left to defrost has been opened and I caught one of the kittens making off with a bag of chicken wings [1].

Oh and they love water – their coats aren’t fur, but actually classed as a pelt (haven’t a clue what the difference is!) and water just rests on the top.

Great cats with just enough wildness to make them different.

[1] Their diet is fresh mince and chicken wings – So last night I’m trying to bag up their meat for the freezer and I’ve got three animals attacking the food as I’m sorting it out.

Here’s the 2 new Bengal kittens and our recently departed Siamese… The Adult Bengal is a bit camera shy but I will get a photo of her soon!

John C Wild Guess time…. Today’s JCWG is:

The model is supposed to represent a Legion Condor aircraft? As these were Bf109C/D/E’s, a Buchon is nowhere near.[1]

Told you it was wild 🙂

    JC
[1]My only reason for this guess is the age/style of the flying helmets in the background!

Military history, reading novels and taking things apart (and sometimes putting them back together – this includes Cars, motorcycles and aeroplanes). Basically I’m fascinated by engineering! I also love motorsport, bikes mainly but anything that isn’t boring (attn. Mr B Ecclestone, sort F1 out NOW).

Used to have bikes but sold them last summer.

The other main interest at present is breeding Bengal cats – 2 kittens installed (although this is mainly my other half’s project, one tends to be drawn in to the hard work side of it, such as going to the vets, building pens, cleaning up and feeding. Hang on, just what is she doing? Oh yes, keeping all the money that may appear from the sale of any kittens!).

I’ve tried to get SWMBO to come along to the Hanger and get stuck in to the C 47 project but strangely she is resisting. Funny that 🙂

Perhaps when they make the dummies Moggy if you ask very nicely they’ll mould an extra Susanna for you.

Is it just me, or is this thread about to go dowhill very very quickly? 😉

Is it not the “Airman’s Lament”? Sung to the tune of “Bring back my Bonny” if memory serves correctly. The full lyrics (I seem to recall that the song covers the whole aeroplane) are reproduced in many WW1 RFC histories. I’ll check the library when I get home.
