Not sure if i can bring my F-4 Phantom USAF H7 ejection seat all the way to Melbourne but will look into…..

My large collection of flightgear could stir interest amongst the locals.

Pity i didnt get the F-86 Sabre fuselage and ejection seat last year when had the chances… could of made a nice large display.

Im rather taken back by the vocal harsh criticisms given on this forum by some people to the owners of the replicated Mossie.. it is really not appropiate for adults to carry on like this in the best of “british” traditions.

The french men have done something different and spent their – own time and money and hard work – on such a uniuque project.

Did any of you do anything to help the project? If so good – if not stop attacking their efforts.

I think if people want to be critical of others – they should first be in shoes of those who they wish to criticise so much.

Maybe they might learn given such harsh words is rather unhelpful and not needed.
It drags down humanity when all people do is damage what others share with others in the world.

Bottom line is …just be glad someone has constructed and flown a Mossie replica aircraft.

Anything else is really uncalled and really unbecoming of aviation enthusiats. It beginning to sound like kids in a fight.

I find on other aviation/online forums the same thing – people love to chop others down for no apparent reason.
It really is not humanity’s best point to be so critical of others – when majority have not been in the other’s shoes.

By all means keep on been critical to the efforts of the Frenchies – but how would you like to be them reading such a forum… rather unpleasant and may be damage any chance of ever seeing this fly in english skies.

Treat others how you would like them to treat you.. remeber that… i do.

    Thanks for feedback Tony.

For a lead in.. a interesting story coming soon on my blog page will be my interviews and photos on a recent visit to RAAF Williamtown – home of the RAAF fighter force – to view up close the RAAF F/A-18 Hornets operations along with interviews with various pilots and inspecting the ALSE/flightgear rooms of three different squadrons on the base.

Another story will be on F-105 Thunderchief Vietnam pilots and another series is on development of US flightgear in 4 seperate articles.

Another article will cover a interview with the famous US aircraft story writer / artist Lou Drendel.

Modellers, warbird owners/enthusiasts and collectors of flightgear have found my blog page to be of value with around 5-9,000 visits a month it is getting interest from every country nearly in the world.

I spend around 3h-4hrs a week writing articles so i thank you for your feedback.
I get alot from around the world so obviously i need to keep going with what i have created it seems.

I see the auction for the Wamira has ended early.
I hope those Aussies managed to beat the poms at this game….

Sorry Matt i cant help as i just acquired this week from the UK ….:)……. a rare RAAF WW2 seat parachute for a few thousand $$. This will go with my RAAF/RAF heritage flightgear displays at airshows and events.

(It must be a Aussie importing week and UK export week – first the Beaufighter fuselage and now a WW2 era parachute and maybe a Wamira to come?)

Maybe if i had more notice i could of contributed to the new fad….internet warbird community groups purchasing warbirds.
Could be the way of the future.. warbird buying as a community group online band together and save planes.

A mate who know about the Beaufighter in the UK, has told me more overnight that it is not the expected Duxford Beaufighter. He said that is going no where at the moment.

He understand the export to Australia is a ex RAF machine and it had previously been restored with some Australian Beaufighter parts.

He has not given me a serial number of the aircraft yet involved.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I agree it is capable and shouldnt be retired in some ways but due to spares and age issues, the airframes needs to be withdrawn.

I will be present at next week’s last ever flight by the RAAF F-111 on Friday December 4th.
I will be doing a follow up story on this , so keep a look out.

For my displays , im at least in my prime – 30s or just past it :).

    http://heritageflightgear.blogspot.com

Im a tall fella for me im a 6’3 225lb bloke.

10years ago i weighed 180lbs tho… so lifestyle and working does catch up with people…

I did find climbing into the Sabre jet with parachute on tad hard few years ago… 🙂 needed to do more stretches…

Doing a P-40 display last year was interesting – the P-40 is so roomy cockpit…

I do agree with some people that an age or physical constraint is maybe suitable for some renactments.

More important the stuff is preserved for future generations i feel.

I met the family of a very famous RAAF pilot at the HARS airshow this year while i was dressed in my 1960s RAAF Sabre gear. I was actually quite a popular item to photograph as most of the public had never seen the flightgear before on display and asked questions.

The family thought someone honouring their father’s role was most humbling and appreciated. Their dad’s name was on Sabre jet for display.

    Gday,

In Australia it is a relative new thing for aviation and warbirds to have renactments…..

Not many people understand the connection between aircraft/warbird/history and pilots.

Fewer understand what a pilot wore in combat or what it took to survive if shot down/ejected.

Very few people do renacting of aviation in Australiabecause of cost, transportation and fragile equipment to share with the public.

Compared to the USA and UK where aviation renactments are all the vogue and draw people to airshows themselves – in Australia it only just begun i feel in last few years.

I am working with a QLD airshow organiser to make his airshow more interesting – a few ideas are on the board – and more if im game to stretch myself out to do new things.

Myself started a NSW aviation flightgear renactment display over last 2.5years. I have organised and liaised with various warbird owners, museums and recently got official RAAF approval as well for my displays.

I have gained from this work with warbirds a job writing for a warbird news section in a Australian wide magazine… so it can open new doors…

In my collection which covers RAAF, RAF, USN, USAF from ww2 to present day flightgear – i own around 60 flight helmets, 60 flight suits, 10 jackets, 10 parachutes, rarest of all a F-4D Phantom ejection seat and much more in other display items.

I try to match a airshow or event to my gear and work with the organisers. Eg RAAF Mustang from Korea – i wear RAAF 1950s flying gear, A-37B Dragonfly from Vietnam – USAF flightgear etc, O-1 Birdog – USAF FAC gear..

See my webpage and my past articles on the right side column for a insight to the growing aviation human side of heritage displays – i have photos from most warbird photos shoots online since 2008.

    http://www.heritageflightgear.blogspot.com

I will say some people dont understand why i do it….but they are the ignorant ones. Most people see it is done to remeber the aircrews of the past..
