Looks like we are still none the wiser as to where its moving to. I would love to see a Gannet on the move through the Cornish country-side. especially through some of the narrower streets that the Police insist you use.
with you on that one, I’m only a few miles away and often drop by with my son – for a long while the F-104 had a huge old bit of carpet over the cockpit secured with bunjies – trapped lord knows how much moisture against the bodywork, always in two minds – scrapped almost for certain, or rot away and fall to bits over time – if they try to move any of them now I’m sure they would fall to bits!
When you go down next time BSG-75, check out the main undercarriage unit on the Port side, see if a small hole exists there (front of the unit, about half way between the wheel and the fuselage), I made that small hole with my index finger when I was undertaking a corrosion check for someone who was interested in that aircraft 4 years ago!!
For those who dont want to join an existing group, then consider going and starting your own collection – all you need is land, time, time, and err more time!
And a bucket load of willing, able and trustworthy volunteers.
And there is the problem with a lot of collections, a lack of volunteers.
I overheard a conversation recently that 22+57 was up for sale.
Just to clarify, it is one of these? http://www.airandground.com/assets/graphics/static/GS1%20-%20THSLMK33A3B.pdf
I might have an AP lurking at the Airfield, depends on how desperate you are for it.
Your talking about a Mk.3 Hydraulic Rig, there is one available through Air & Ground Aerospace Products, but they want the best part of 4 figures for it.
Kemble Airfield, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, but then again, I am very bias, get some aerial shots, you will see why I consider Kemble to be the best.
I am no gardener, but there is a chap in Cheltenham who has a complete nose glazing from a Mossie to cover some of his plants.
There is also a chap just up the road from him who has turned a Javelin reheat unit into a rather large plant pot!!!!
Glenn Cattermole, who owns the nose section of Buccaneer XT284, recently saved a Bucc canopy which was being used to cover plants.
Stuart, Glen is getting on slowly but surely with 284, I think he’s frightened by the amount of work involved in renewing the missing skin panels, but I have offered a weekend of my time during this coming year to show him the basics and to deliver some metal. He certainly has no shortage of help and support from us.
Back to the thread, we believe we know who has brought 893 and look forwards to hearing what plans he has for the old girl.
Ok, I will narrow it down, who bought out Aviation Video International (AVI) and Aircraft Projects Production?
This section is far from small, being over 20ft in length and over 9ft tall, I wish the new owner all the best for the future and if we can be of any help, then please get in touch with us.
For those of you who are not familiar with size of these sections, then this may help. I am the best part of 6ft tall and I am picture here on the left, with XT284’s owner, Glenn Cattermole.
I remember when it was offered to the Society along with XV161 back in 1999 for £1000 the pair, along with a load of components to complete one of the sections.
The worlds gone mad!!!
Being able to restore a Javelin FAW.9 to full airworthy condition and with added bonus of having a non volatile starting system………….I’ll carry on dreaming!!!
Don’t even go there, I been in conversation with MJR over this whole thing and I can safely say, she will stay there, regardless of what go’s on around her, despite our efforts to give Charles an option.
