SR.177 for me

PM sent to you, hope it is of help.
what was the reason they were scrapped?
They had reached the end of their cost effective life, the cost of upgrading the Bucc’s to continue in service, would have been huge.
Most of the footage is taken from the 5 or 6 publically available Video’s/DVD’s, such as “Flying The Ark”, “Buccaneer – The Last British Bomber” and “The Story Of The Buccaneer”.
Great complilations all the same and fabulous viewing for us Bucc Freaks.
Ref airworthy aircraft they will stay at Bournemouth and relocated to the north side of the airfield so im told.
Quite correct sir, got this from the horse’s mouth last week. What has got to be remembered with the airworthy machines is that they are there under the care of deHavilland Aviation, not BAM.
WK914 Meteor F8, which wears ‘WF714’, was last noted at Haverigg, Cumbria around June this year.
According to forum member Plazz, she’s quite dusty inside and that’s not from dirt either.
Hi Buccsociety,
Thanks for the offer, but there is no need now as we have found some good scrubbers:D
Excellent, excellent I say 😀 😀
From my conversations with Rob Moffat at Thunder City a few years ago, it was mentioned that the fleet operates to strict control within South African airspace only, so flights to this country are a non starter unless there has been a relaxing in South African permit to fly regulations.
Here a pic of her taken in August this year, the photo is copyright – Francis Wallace – Blackburn Buccaneer Society/The Buccaneer Trust.
2 certainly will not be flown again, 1 might be.
Mike Carlton will be spinning in his grave, I for one will certainly miss the Museum, had many a great day down there with the Bucc, I will also miss turning up unannounced and getting PK to make me a cup of coffee 😉
Moving her to Kemble, Scampton , or wherever, forget it!!. She can’t be taken apart where she is, there are literaly no facilities at all. no power, water, air, workshop , storage. it would take a team of 4-5 experienced Lightning guys 3 months of weekends, with a caterpillar, tractor etc, to get one apart with all the facilities at hand.
dont worry she will be getting some help.
Glad to hear she’ll be getting some help Milt, but if there is one thing that I have learned over the years in aircraft preservation, the word “Can’t or Cannot”, does not exist, the impossible does happen but not without hard work, grit and determination.
Whatever the future holds for 724, I wish Charles and the guys, the very best of luck.
By the way Milt, Bucc nose wheel & tyre unit should be coming down to you within the next couple of months, just waiting for a calm weekend to change the unit on ours.
Someone mentioned about her being moved to bruty as a possibility but I think it will only be more difficult to look after her and still no hangar for her either?
Kemble has been mentioned to Charles (the chap who owns her) on more than one occasion.
