863 is surprising complete and could be made into a runner, but the trouble is that Bucc parts are becoming increasingly hard to find, although, that said, the bonds between the various Buccaneer owners and operators is good and parts do get rotated, this was one of the main reasons for setting up the Blackburn Buccaneer Society.
In the short term, you have more chance of the Emerald Isle reverberating to the sound XV361, than you do 863.
Here’s a shot of 863, taken by Ali Nicoll, just outside Dunkell at the start of her journey.

Well Done To Those Who Took A Couple Of Minutes.
Lifted from the Gloucestershire Echo website, as usual:
“Almost 17,000 people have backed the campaign to save Kemble Airfield.Hundreds of jobs are on the line if the airport, which is used by thousands of pilots, planes and tourists each year, was to close.
Two online petitions, launched in April, have attracted 9,768 signatures while a hard copy, which has been circulated around local homes and businesses, has been signed by more than 7,000 supporters.
The future of the aerodrome was thrown into doubt after Cotswold District Council served the airport with an enforcement order to clampdown on unauthorised flying following complaints from some residents.
It said the airport only had permission for storage, repair and maintenance and associated flying.
The decision could spell the end of the annual Kemble Air Day, which this year attracted more than 15,000 people, and threaten dozens of jobs at the site.
A planning inquiry is due to be held in November.
Acting manager of the airfield, Will Stocksley, says everyone at the airfield has been overwhelmed by the level of support which has been shown.
“We’re obviously happy with the number of people who have chosen to sign the petitions which have been doing the rounds.
“There are two online petitions and we’ve a hard copy here which people have been signing, which has had a similar number of signatures, around the 7,000 mark.
“It’s a great amount of support which has been offered to us and we welcome it all.
“I’m in the process of collating all the evidence of support for the airfield, which I assume will then be passed on to the council at the inquiry, which I believe is taking place later in the year.”
About 80 jobs were feared at risk at Kemble Airfield, which is more than 70 years old.
Rumours that aircraft giant British Aerospace was considering pulling out of a contract worth millions with Chevron Technical Services Ltd were quashed earlier this year, after news of the possible closure of the airfield broke.
It is hoped a compromise can be reached with the council to ensure the airfield continues to see classic planes – including fighters and RAF aircraft – continue to fly to and from the centre.
The online petition, on the Prime Minister’s website, is now closed.”
Happy Birthday old boy, another year older, another year wiser and another year the Bucc gets further under your skin, or is that in your skin, like when you removed the Genny cables for 889 from 165 😀
Speak to you soon, have a good one, even though its nearly over.
We are not sure at this moment whether or not, 381 will be displayed alongside XX889 at the Kemble Open Day on Sunday 9th September, I will try and keep you up to date with her progress.
No problems Colin, shame we didn’t get an on the move shot as I am sure Dave would have appreciated it.
As promised/threatened, here are a few images of WV381.
In the hangar at RAF Benson.
Outside Delta Jets’ Hangar at Kemble.
Along side XX889 on the pan.
Its not going anywhere until a serviceable MRG unit can be found and they are like hens teeth.
Happy Birthday Roy, from us all at the BBS.
Looks like the late great Baz Livesley in picture number 8 Andy.
Several of us lot are preparing to decent on the airfield, but I have a slight issue, is anyone going from the Newbury area that would be kind enough to give a lift to two of our members who are unable to drive, they will be more than prepared to help pay for the fuel.
Will the Science Museum allow this to be removed from their top floor in South Kensington??
Original post adjusted accordingly, thank you Albert 😀
Good to hear that you have signed up again for this year Pete, as with yourself, I am part of the build up team, starting Monday 11th with bringing the E28/39 REPLICA in for static, then onto setting out the barriers.
Friday 15th could be interesting.
Just about half way restoreing a 1985 Honda 125 super dream twin.
I nearly brought one of those back in 1988, but settled for a RG125 Gamma instead!!
Will she come to the Kemble Air Day on 17th June to join Delta Jets’ Hunters?
Albert, she’s not on my official list, but then it changes from one minute to the next, so I am unable to confirm.
Hey M+R,
Dunno if this is your problem, but when something similar used to happen on the 5A, we used to get the driver to keep the start button depressed, then thump the top right quarter of the left fuselage roundel, behind which was the relay/timer? You’d hear it motor over and then the hairdryer would start!
FF
I remember being told this, another way of finding it was to look for an indent in the fuselage! 😀
I’m working along the same lines as FLY.BUY, although the panel will return to its rightful place, once it is completed.
