Used to play pool in Tadley, God Help Us… Once got moved up the team order because our captain heard one of the Fox & Hounds team threaten to punch someone and he figured he’d better play him instead of me!

It’s not much better now!! Still not here much longer, moving back to West Berkshire in the not to distant future.

Pretty much the first time I’ve been able to respond to this thread, life has become exceedingly busy at the moment!!!

Ollie, their are no plans whatsoever to fly 889, our plan is to get her up to a state where most of her systems are live again, that includes engines, which she does not have at the moment but we have a couple held on our behalf.

Pete, the paint is of the permanent variety, talks are already underway about repainting her in a scheme she wore when she was first taken on charge.

Scimitar, the bomb door is currently open, but we aim to remove it during the Winter so we can gain unrestricted access to the myriad of pipes, hoses & wiring looms that can be found in this area, my team are going to love me for this one!! :dev2: :dev2:

Thanks go out to those that have supported us through this difficult stage in retrieving 889 from Stav.

One image for those that have not seen 889 on the hard standing.

As always, I don’t care what colour scheme the Vixen is displayed in, to hear those two Avon’s and that unique shape in the skies, it is just a privilege to see her, especially since most of her stable mates have long since fallen silent.

    Keep up the good work.

XN928 Buccaneer S1 Nose to Manston

Hope this helps. Feel free for any corrections/amendments

928 is resident with a private owner in Gravesend, Kent.

As for the Vulcan nose section, she is quite rightly, at Gloucester Airport, but the weather is already starting to take its toll on the paint work and their are large areas where it has bubbled up and starting to come away from the metal 🙁

The article states that the airframe was road moved from the port of Immingham, Has anyone got any pics they could post? it would be interesting too see as ‘Ming’ used to be an old haunt of mine!.

I used to have about twenty images on my old PC before it blew up, I’ll have a dig around to see if I can find any prints that I can scan in.

Binbrook’s last, last Lightning show, boy did it rain !
But it was worth the wet ‘trollies’
    Andy B

Mr B, your not kidding, it was probably on a par with how wet our team got moving Mr Landon’s Bucc out of Cornwall last year!! 😮

Just keep a close eye on the situation at Scampton, things are quite at the moment and as always with any project of this nature, the owners keep things close to their chest and quite rightly so. All will be revealed in the fullness of time.

Well, unable to confirm if she sold or not, but she was still at Lowesden Works last weekend in the same place as always and no sign of any recent undertaking of work.

Would there be issues co-locating to Bruntingthorpe?

Indeed their would be issues at Bruntingthorpe, no hangar and the runway being used for part of the test track on a daily basis, to name but two.

The Kemble proposal seems to have fallen through, another airfield that has been rumoured is Staverton/Gloucester Airport and to be housed in hangar E3, although after a lengthly discussion with the fire crew at Staverton (got to know them pretty well now), neither them or us were any the wiser, its a case of wait and see.

At about 1400 today the Buccaneer nose was loaded on a lorry outside the gate.

    It will be coming back.

Just like to mention that ‘Charlie Foxtrot’ was seen on Saturday 11th March at Kemble with Tractor units attached to the low loaders and a truck mounted Hiab nearby, looked like Charles Russell Transport units from our position.

Unfortunately, left the camera at Staverton where we were trying to debog Buccaneer XX889.
