It is almost like being there!!!!!
Peter, You should try and come over sometime, it really is something different and you never get the chance to be this close to a Jet on full power that you do at Brunters.
Did anyone catch XX900’s wet start on camera?
No problems Plazz, glad you enjoyed the day and I hope that you can experience many more with our motley crew. Hopefully next time 894 will play ball and make some noise.
Cheers Andrew, I did ask them If we could go to the other side of the aircraft to get away from the Sun!! Feeling a tad burnt today.
Now my photography is bad at the best of times so it is with some nervousness that I put up the following shots, now they are not of the usual fair as I do not get much of chance to go up to the runway to see fast runs, but they may be of interest to you all.
1). XX900 taxis from her pan to take her place on the runway, taken on the Saturday evening.
2). XX900 again, this time taken just after she had an aborted wet start, taken on the Sunday afternoon.
3). WT333 undergoes engine start on Saturday afternoon.
4). Newest member of the BBS gets used to 894’s rather strange seating arrangement, those who don’t know, this is the forum member known as Plazz.
5). Victor 715 prepares to start no 3 engine on the Saturday evening.
6). Both of Bruntys Bucc together, note: the chap in the fluro jacket is forum member adwwebber(sorry Andrew(.
Didnt see any other forumites at 11 tho….

Bucc Society and the merry band will be in attendance yet again, really got to start thinking of moving towards Leicester to be closer to Brunty!!
A few us will be there on Friday 3rd to start cleaning XX894 ready for the Sunday.
Bucc Driver, could you let me know what size the tyre is for the Sea Hawk? I have many good contacts and can probably come up with at least one.
OX-16, we are on the case but Adwwebber may well come up with something before I do.
we were looking at importing a TF-104 from the Italian Air Force, but the massive costs involved in getting it over here are just far to prohibitive, the CAA were also against a ferry flight into the UK which just added more problems to an already big problem. One day, one day, we may get a Hooter, but its not going to be any time soon.
Great news Chaps, I will get myself up their as soon as humanly possible, I still have a stack load of manuals for James & the Bucc and will bring them with me.
See you soon.
Hi Arthur, I am base about 2 miles from the old runway threshold and have always lived within a 6 mile square radius of the airfield.
I have heard about the incident and believe it to be very true, I have several friends whom were based at nearby RAF Welford at the time and they remember quiet clearly that the entire fire team had to attend a major accident at GC, I will try and get some more gen on this subject over the next couple of days
Does anyone have any photographs of the former Delta Jets Jet Provost Mk.4?
Painted red/white/black, it was on display at both the Delta Jets Flying Days held in 2000. If my memory serves me it also had 5MU lettering on the fin and sported its Maintenance serial 8409M.I believe it is now at Brunty.
Mark, It can still be found at Brunty in Phoenix’s yard, it belongs to Alan Witt who is in the process of stripping her of spares and will then be putting her up for sale, I’ll try and get a couple of images for you over the weekend.
If you could ever forgive the shortsightedness of the ruling British government at the time, the best tool for the Falklands missions would have been the awesome Buccaneer, operating from Carriers based in the South Atlantic, but apparently we did not need fixed wing capability, I seem to remember (although I am far too young to have witnessed) a certain Duncan Sandys WHITE PAPER of 57, which, again was very shortsighted, cancelling every major British fighter project, thank god the Lightning had gone too far to cancel, what ever happened to the SARO SR.177?? Please don’t answer that, cause I already know!!!!!
Arghhhhh!!!!, I’ve gone off topic, VICTOR, possibly a better bombing platform than the Vulcan, still again, politic’s played a major role in this too, if only Sir Freddy had sold out to BAC/BAe before he died, things could have been somewhat different!!!
That sounds positive, must get hold of the John’s to hear what’s happening, ah, I still have hyd rig to pick up from them, good excuse!!!
What a glorious sight, especially Chris’ T.8, must get her up to Brunty next year!!!
Any news on the F.6/FGA.9, XE601?? Is she staying??
Fast Ford, 5th Gear & Top Gear all use or have used Bruntingthorpe, MCN & Max Power are very regular users and Vicky Butler-Henderson has been seen on more than one occassion in the cafe (down Guy, down!!)
Cheers Steve, greatly appreciated.
Airband has been active already on the Approach Freq, not bad considering i’m 25miles away at the moment.
