As for offers of assistance – well the Aeropark has been at it a long time and the last time they helped a group who needed a
lend of a STAD starter trolley it took a long time to come back and was a kit of parts.
We offered a free of charge service, not them offering us, all we asked was for them to obtain a quantity of OX-16, our stocks of 16 is running very low and do not wish to part with any of it.
It is good to hear that she is receiving attention, please guys, if you need any help give either myself or adwwebber a PM.
Best of luck for the future.
PS: Thanks for the images Les, I will be in contact tomorrow.
Hi buccsociety
Here’s one to be going on with. Will try to get a walkround of the kite this weekend.
Thanks in advance, LesB, judging by that one image, she could really do with a bit of a spruce up, notice the paint starting to fade.
Not a thing mate, I guess our help is not needed for the time being, would be nice to help the guys out, could I ask, if any forum member happens to vist the East Midlands Aero Park, please, please, please, can you get us some up close and personal shots of Bucc 350, concern is starting to set in.
Oh, Pooh!!!!!!!!!! 🙁
Thruxton, Hampshire, covered by Hampshire Police!!!
Still, at least she will be there in time for the Buccaneer 50th in 2008 😀
Andrew, I trust that you will notify us as soon as a new date has been arranged?
The team are to remove, check and rectify any problems with the Canberra’s brakes before a high speed taxi can be conducted, but it is seriously hoped that she WILL perform a fast run on September 5th. I will update when I next see Roger and Arthur (should be next weekend).
Anyone point me in the right direction for the remanufacture of main fuel pipes for Bucc 894?
The large camo section behind the wing looks like the remains of a Buccaneer to me!
There was a buccaneer fuselage on station around the same time, I wonder could it be the same one? Plazz
Plazz, you are on the mark my friend, indeed, the section you see is that of XW528, formerly of Conningbys dump, not much to rescue from her, just a few pipes and a crew amp (the only items that were not damaged).
W&R15 has XN774 as having died on RAF Coningsbys dump by 9/95; Flood.™
Well, she may have done in W&R15 but by W&R17 she had come from another station, so which one do you believe!! Just to prove that it is the remains are of XN774, I have attached an image which shows a section of one of the wings, this serial number was found on several (very bent) panels on or around the hulk pictured above.
Regardless, her current location is to be kept under wraps for now, as I have said, if you want to know where she to be found then PM me, not my decision but it is that of the people who own the yard.
Of course the id might already be known to Buccsociety…
Flood.™
The aircraft is/was XN774 which was removed from Binbrook’s dump sometime ago.
Only the top engine remains in the fuselage section, the lower engine can also be found on site but is mangled beyond recognition and such, it would be waste of time and effort trying to recover anything from it, apart from some of the HP compressor blades.
If you want to know the location, then please PM me, but please do not post its whereabouts on this forum.
I have heard that Nev Martin is up for bidding for her as a source of spares, but as you mention, Propstrike, she is badly corroded, Staravia anyone (The scrapman cometh!!!)
That reminds me, must post up a new thread on Scrap Aircraft………….More to follow!!
Great shots of the team working on her, looking forwards to seeing her soon, best of luck with the move.
Bucc XW530 at The Buccaneer Service Station, Elgin, Scotland, enjoy Andrew. This shot was taken very recently by Blackburn Buccaneer Society member, Derek Cowan and as such, the image is his copyright. Nice bike, Derek!! 😀
Andrew, I have also got an address for the East Midlands Airport Volunteers Association which is as follows:
J. Sandland, 37 Wigginton Road, Tamworth, B79 8RL.
Maybe this contact maybe of use in the near future, so I have wrote a letter to the above and will send it tomorrow, I will keep you informed of any correspondence.
Not heard anything from James B as yet.
You could try sending me your photos, I have an excellent program from Macromedia that allows me to minipulate all types of image file without any loss of detail.
Well I have found out the guys member name, James B, you can find it by searching the member list. He has only made 10 or so posts, so he should not too hard to miss. I will send him a PM in the morning.
As promised, here are a couple of images of 544 leaving Cosford and arriving at Shawbury
544 Was indeed a weapons loading trainer but she was at Cosford until till 96 when she was roaded out to Shawbury, hence why she had damage to one of her airbrake petals (hit one of the road signs outside Cosford). I have some pics of her on the low loader somewhere, I will try and find them later and post a couple up.
Judging by the amount of reads on this topic, there are quite a few people looking forwards to seeing THREE Bucc’s in the same place apart from South Africa.
