    date

    Hi,
    To true on langauge conversion..
Didn’t think of the other order of date, but i think it might have been easy to type a 5 instead of 4 on a typewriter, or as you say it is the date of printing of the photo.
Sticking to any thread, I personally think is always important,
On serious note this thread is afterall, discussing the potential loss of a halifax crew.
Happy easter to all, hope most remember what this weekend is all about.
( nope not the easter bunny !! )
    cheers

    Hi,
Just checked multimap, and Vierlingsbeek is just north of venlo, so it is possible that it was this date & a/c.

    claims

    Hi,
possibly date is a typo ?
Streib is quoted as Maj , at least as early as Jan ’43 , his claim for that date, [haven’t checked back further].

13.01.43 Maj. Werner Streib Stab I./NJG 1 Lancaster

Personally think a 05 was typed instead of a 04 , and think most likely date is :-

03.04.43 Maj. Werner Streib Stab I./NJG 1 Halifax
03.04.43 Maj. Werner Streib Stab I./NJG 1 Halifax S.W. Vierlingsbeek
03.04.43 Maj. Werner Streib Stab I./NJG 1 Halifax 3 km. Pfalzberge

Anyone know locations and they can eliminate one or two a/c ?

    cheers

    290

    Hi
‘alles kaput’ was at wright field 25-09-46 for overhaul , but was salvaged / scrapped 12-12-46 .
apparently on the 28-07-45 flight it took off from the azores after trumans C-54, and arrived at bermuda an hour ahead of the presidents a/c.
info from war prizes an excellent book well worth the dosh.
There has been a heck of a lot of debate on other boards, that the manchurian flights never actually happened.
    cheers

    flaps

    Hi,
whirlwind ‘flaps’ are one piece, and the end of the engine nacelles are ‘attached’ to the ‘flaps’,
So when ‘flaps’ go down, so do the rear of the engine nacelles,
‘flaps’ operation was also interlinked to the radiator shutters.

    nice pic

    Hi
looks good, authentic for a flight over Devon.
just needs someone to do a 1:1 scale
hopefully fairs better than the real example which crashed near exeter in ’41
    cheers

    decline ?

    Hi
Although not a trader , for me it’s to far , travelling the south coast road from devon to arrive in a reasonable time.
Lack of punters will lead to lack of traders, maybe a two location aerojumble might be more succesful, maybe a move to a different more central location may help ? Somewhere around the bristol area would be accessable to many more , and has great roads around it, easy access for south west, wales , north M5, M4 corridor etc, isn’t there an airfiled just north of bristol, nr gloucester ?
    cheers

    Hi
My opinion , fly replicas, keep the originals on the ground,
    imagine if it crashed !!
a sad day if it ever flies, stick to the engine runs/taxy
    Cheers
