I for one would love to see a Spit 22 in the air. Are there any other late Spits like that anywhere to be seen, maybe in the States? they certainly do not seem to be short of Britains finest over there.

That would be the early Spit that TFC own, right? Last time I saw it (few weeks back now) the people working there were talking about it being painted. It does always look quite tidy though, I was just wondering if the paint job was still going to go ahead. I imagine it is getting a bit close to the big airshow they do there for something as dramatic as that to happen to their most important aircraft though.

I expect they value their privacy, being the only two Duxford organisations not having hordes of visitors looking in on their activities!

    Hi Peta,

I think they all do a fantastic job. Dunno who works on the bearcat but it shone like a new penny, must have used up a lot of polish to get it looking that good. How often do they fly it?

Probably looking round the hangar trying to find them!

Seriously, the volunteers must do a good job. The fact that they come in on a Sunday says something. I presume the people I saw swarming all over the Mustang covered in paint stripper must be volunteers too. Not a very glamorous job but neccesary I suppose.

    I agree, Willow.

It would be fantastic to have a fleet of Virgin Atlantic Concordes. Would he be able to make them a viable profitable operation though? BA claim that is the reason for pentioning them off (their alleged commercial unviability).

I was lucky enough to get up to Duxford yesterday too. Saw the P-51 in the TFC hangar. Last time I saw so many bods swarming over a machine was in the pits at an F1 race, must be a lot of pressure to get the work finished.

Could not find the Hellcat in any of the hangars though, shame.
