Apart form the BAe 125 at Northolt gate were any others preserved. Did one go to Cosford ?
Hi Easyrider, not wishing to be a kill joy, but if you are going to post ‘old’ images can you add the date they were taken ? Just avoids confusion over what is currently happening.

When this aircraft stops flying, because the owner / pilots want to stop flying it, we can only hope that it be well cared for in its next life as a static exhibit. The aircraft is rare and it should receives the care and attention that it deserves, hopefully this will mean a restoration back to its original condition / engine. I assume this aircraft was delivered new to the Finnish Air Force and as such its right and proper place is in Finland.
SOPWITH SNIPE !!!!!
If the Collection want the Wildcat back in the air they will need to allocate plenty of engineering time. It might make sense to out source some of the work. Assume it has gone into ARco workshops ? Expect they have better access to equipment to undertake initial inspection and detail what work is required before a major rebuild is started.
After a long read I am guessing it is going to be harder for somewhere like Old Warden to keep to the distances for take off and landing?
The new rules refer to aerobatic display. Do not think crowdline runway distances have been changed, if indeed there are any fixed rules for that ? Would assume that CAA assess each location on its merits.
Whilst I understand the need to have healthy and qualified pilots what will happen to the like of Steve Hinton and Gene De Marco ? Both regular display pilots at UK events. Who will DA them and will their own national medical certificates be recognised. by the CAA.
Hope common sense can prevail :stupid:
Maybe just a link to the auction catologue would be useful for those wishing to look ?
Does anybody on this forum regularly visit Brooklands ? If so it would be greatly appreciated if any aircraft movement could be advertised. I did email the museum direct about proposed aircraft movements but had no reply. Mention has been made of a ‘tent’ for the Vimy, what about the Wellington, would be great to be able to photograph it outside. Indeed has the Wellington ever been outside, thinks it was restored and assembled in the hangar.
Well that is a strange coincidence, passed by this very aircraft last month, still in the back yard of a property at Antelope Acres. We found the location on Google earth and plotted the route from Fox Field. The aircraft and several others are easily seen over the fence and as time was limited we did not feel the need to ask to enter and get closer photos. Sorry if the owner is watching and feels offended.

Expect the Me262 would only appear at Legends if it was already booked into display at another UK show, such as Fairford or Farnborough. That way some of the cost can be shared. But it would still a complicated transit flight from Fairford to display at Duxford and as stated Duxford probably does not have the preferred runway length.
Interesting story in the link from the first post. But…
When is the “big reveal” if it is at Waddington why is it stated to be in “a hangar at Binbrook” Confused ??? Is anybody directly involved in the project prepared to speak up ?
Will any of the Shackleton crew be about over the Easter Weekend and when are the next engine running days scheduled.
Thanks Paul
Thinking a bit sideways here. Presumably the BBMF have a suitable set of jacks when they work on the Lancaster. As PA474 will be ‘resting’ at Duxford for the winter and most of next year these will become temporarily surplus to requirements, could they be loaned out to help NX611 ?. Unless off course the jacks and other servicing equipment is being loaned to ARco for the reworking at Duxford.
All these loans are very good. But what has the RAFM received in return, it all seems a bit one way traffic ?
Would seem a shame to butcher a single seater Vampire to make it into something which it is not. Assuming single and two seat vampires are equal condition a swap might seem the best solution. Several collections have two seat Vampire, not so many single seaters about ?
