And also Kev, as I have recently stated twice recently,
my 16yrs old Grandsons last school, has put History on the back burner.

    Jim.
    Lincoln .7

Jim, as I mentioned last time you’re obviously in the wrong part of Lincolnshire, look at the fantastic resources they have http://www.ahleducation.org.uk/

In the next two weeks I’m hosting 4 school visits at Newark Air Musuem, two of which are from schools in Lincolnshire – both doing World War II, Remembrance and Evacuees etc. 😉

I don’t know what paperwork / documentation came with G-APRT when it was donated to Newark Air Museum earlier this year; you could always make contact with the curator – his contact details can be found in the ‘Getting In Touch’ section on this page!

😮 Now look what you’ve done re tractors ………… – note to self, ‘keep calm and roll on November 12th!’

As for ‘aviation collectables’ I’ll resist the urge to add a weblink and leave it at saying – “Saturday December 8th 2012!!” 😀

From what I’m starting to understand about people who are into their ‘aviation collectables’ (I understand that some of them don’t like the phrase toys) – they have many similar foibles to ‘aviation enthusiasts’ and the like, re colour schemes, originality, provenance etc.! 😉

Plus don’t get me started on vintage tractors!!! 😮

I cannot think for one minute why you should think like that Mr Rocketeer!! 😀

The real reason it caught my eye was that with some of the educational activities I help with at NAM we have similar items for the young people to pass round and look at in the ‘World War II / Evacuee’ sessions – whilst obviously not in original boxes etc. perhaps they’re more valuable than we thought. Perhaps they need re-assessing!! 😉

During the day I also came round to thinking about an object that’s on display – a hand carved and painted wooden aeroplane. This was made by a German POW for a schoolboy who lived on a local farm and this item always attracts some interesting discussions with visiting school parties! 🙂

..Meanwhile, the next major aerojumble event (as far as I know?) will be Shoreham in April 2013.

    One here on 2nd March 2013! 😀

Your poster is still on display for next April! 😉

The last time I saw the owner of the ‘Movember’ it was of similar stature albeit slightly greyer in tone!

Back to NAM, details of a ‘Pre-Christmas Aviation Die-Cast & Model Sale’ on Saturday 8th December 2012 have been added to the news page – this relates to a bequest of 200+ military aircraft die-cast models and 200+ made up plastic kits that has just arrived and it may be of interest to some collectors / modellers. 🙂

Also three extra photos have been added to the Restoration & Behind The Scenes album – these feature the Rallye restoration, Jaguar cockpit and Lightning stencilling. 🙂

Like David I’ve never had a problem with Key – very simple, especially now it’s all done via an electronic transfer. 🙂

Likewise with the other title, where things have ‘improved’ with the new publisher!

Hi Mike, that’s an excellent picture of Shackleton WR977 being reassembled with the ‘then’ owner Stuart Stephenson; it would have been taken sometime around late May / June 1977 – it’s also one that I don’t recall seeing before.

As you may know at this point in my reply my reputation dictates that I say, it’s in the book(s) – as the saying goes around these parts!! 😀

Looking ahead to next year I see that a list of special events at Newark Air Museum has been added to the NAM website!

I also hear whispers that on one of the press photographs that has been sent out with the same news item (NAM official opening in 1973), you may even catch a glimpse of a teenage TwinOtter23!! 😮

Mistake:- An error or fault resulting from defective judgment, deficient knowledge, or carelessness.

I guess that sums it up.

defective judgment – can’t fault that!

deficient knowledge – are you serious?

carelessness – exceptionally careless in my book – according to the BBC website this in part relates to the fact that “he submitted 19 invoices totalling £12,900”
