Fuel prices are being increased from tomorrow. On October 22nd the Government are annoucing huge cuts. It will affect everyone,I cannot see how the Vulcan can rely on public hand outs .
Alex Henshaw used to barrel roll Lancasters on test. It is ok if flown accurately with regard to speed and using the correct axis ,the aileron roll rate of the Dak concerns me.
Thanks Joe that is where I saw it but copyright prevents publishing . I did wonder if it happened ? VNE for a Dak is 172 knots so provided aircraft is light I would think perfectly feasible. I have seen some spirited DC-3 displays recently but I wonder with their age if they are pushing the envelope too much ?
That is great news, so sad this has happened, what is the world coming too ?
The piece about flying the Spitfire with the cloud footage was very moving and summed up why we all like flying. Also nice to see the unofficial mess “The White Hart ” at Brasted remembered. There is a facsimile signed board still there.
The Crown used to have lots of 355FG P-51 photos not sure if still there ? also there was loads of airship photos at The Bell,Cotton End ,near Cardington, but I have not visited for years.

Latest “Propliner” magazine No122 covers this sixties airline that operated Beech 18s G-AYAH,G-AXWL and N15750 and Argosies.
First of a three part history on Fred Olsen Airline also.
Wieesso,
Again many thanks for your information.
Planemike,
Thats very kind . I am unable to pm you . Any mention of joyriding at Podington or Billing would be most grateful .
Thanks Wieesso. Some of the aircraft were leased from James Hay Stevens.
Was it the Saracens Head mentioned in Guy Gibsons “Enemy Coast Ahead” ?
I went to the Northamptonshire library record office today . Limited time as in a working lunch. Reviewed the book “600 Years of the Mackaness family in Northamptonshire”. Brief mention that John and Charles operated a light aircraft(no type mentioned)at Billing from 1936 to 1953. Billing was used for pleasure flights for ten shillings a flight. It became a licensed airfield code EGBA to allow landing visiting aircraft. The Mackaness family were involved with sand and gravel extraction known as Mixconcrete Ltd.
When I have more time I intend to carry on research in the library and visit the Mackaness family at Billing House,as there must be family records.
Any further help or details appreciated as I would like to see this recorded at the Sywell Aviation Museum.
Blue Max
Do you know if Barry Tempest is on the Podington film . I know that he was a founder member of the McAully Flying Group at Little Snoring .
Thanks Blue Max ,
If I come over to Sywell can I say hello in person as I live locally ? I learned to fly their with Paul Smith CFI and I just take great interest in local aviation history ,very important that we record it.
