Forgive my spelling from recall, the other mispelt book is “The Kappillan of Malta” by Nicholas Monsarrat who lived on Gozo.
I’am off to Malta for a week in May. Looking forward to seeing the Air Museum and War Museum. this thread has been of great help. From Amazon got 2 good books “The Kapillan of Malta” by Nicolas Montserat and “Fortress Island” by James Holland. Anyone recommend any good second hand book shops there ?
If you open the plastic covering its “damaged goods” the shop will be unable to sell it on, with loss to the publisher as well, full stop. These people should be made to pay for it whether they want the magazine or not. Why the big “secret” mystery over supplements. Enjoy the hidden gems inside ! a change of psychology needed ?

The reason some of us are fed up with it, is because of the lack of manners and respect shown to other people. I might confront someone if I had a Magnum 44 poked up their nostril to get results .

Blue 2 ,Agreed I have to fight past these people who block the aisles in the magazine racks reading freely cover to cover in order to get my favourite aircraft magazine. Yes I do want my supplements wrapped in plastic not dog eared and grubby made by people reading at the newstands. As for ripping open the contents that is sheer bad manners and revenue lost to the publisher.
I subscribe to Aeroplane Monthly ,regularly buy Flypast,PC Pilot and SAMI. I can afford it cause I work long 12 hour day and night shifts . 😡 Get out the way !!!

Wellington III serial DF743 coded : LT:L .The two Belgians were Special air Service paratroopers Private E Battaille and Private F De Pauw.
The Stirling V used in India in 1946 were in the finish you mentioned. The contrast could be due to the type of camera film used. No 301 Squadron used Halifax in 1946 in a very worn finish http://www.polishairforce.pl/dyw301zdj.html scroll down to the bottom of the page for that era .
Good history of Decca useage here http://jproc.ca/hyperbolic/decca.html
Bruggen, Many thanks for the link good web site.
Agree” Dead Weight” is a great read with a good plot. This time of year I always like Frederick Forsyth “The Shepherd” ghost story about a Mosquito leading a DH Vampire to a disused airfield in Norfolk in bad weather on Christmas Eve. RAF Swannington always springs to mind,I wonder if Mr Forsyth based the novel on this airfield ?
The test pilot for the refurbished Vickers Varsities at Brooklands Aviation Little Staughton was Group Captain Leslie Barber,AFC assisted from 1964 by Paul Smith CFI. Leslie Barber had been the wartime CFI of No 6 EFTS at Sywell using Tiger Moth’s.
