    Could be Mike Findlay?
This guess is only based on a picture in a Rothmans Team brochure.
    No info on the sponsorship.

Thank you for keeping these historic aircraft where they belong….

    An FAA brat.

I was lucky enough to be treated to a short flight in LF858 some years ago, courtesy of one of the bee-keepers…and good fun it was too. We’re formating with Kilo Sierra, LGC’s Super Falke.

I agree absolutely…it was like a time warp with those authoritative tones, and considered pauses. A master at work!
I fondly remember the time that Neil Williams landed short in the cornfield after an abbreviated circuit in the Bleriot, and Roger had organised a whip round for repairs before Neil had got back to the airfield.
And some great jet flying too, pity the Sabre is still U/S though. Here’s to the next season.
Thanks to all at Old Warden for some great moments this year, not forgetting the sad ones too.

My father served on a Barracuda squadron during the war. Apparently the CO of the squadron refused to fly the aircraft because he considered it too dangerous!
What surprised me was the fact that it was the most numerous type to serve with the FAA in WW2.

I overheard Stuart Goldspink talking shortly after landing the Albatross, saying that it was the last time it would fly….but nothing to do with aeroplanes is a given, so hope for the best…and once again, Uncovered was magic…as was the quality of the light.

Most of the Mildenhall displays in the 70’s were reliably awesome, but on in particular I recall when during the wingover at the Ely end, it went well over the vertical, and I was sure it was about to be rolled!

This was also one to remember from a Biggin Hill BoB display in the early 70’s..not XH588 obviously but a LOW pass down the runway, which rocked the FAA Swordfish taxiing after landing, and was followed by a power climb…I believe the pilot may have been Joe L’Estrange at that time.

Flames were certainly visible from the Friends of Duxford area….appeared to be coming from the Stbd engine, and were extinguished by the ground crew, I think…some time before the fire trucks arrived.
Why do all the fire appliances arrive from the eastern end of the airfield? Is there one stationed at the western end?
