    Dear old Black 6, I was there for her first ever flight. I know someone who has a nice bit of skin from this aeroplane in his museum (wink wink!)

    I wonder who that could be then…….? 😉

    You want some HP42 photos?

    These are from the collection of the late John Lingard, and I think were taken in 1935/36 when he was an engine fitter at Aboukir.

    The first photo has the caption ‘Night inspection of the mailplane, Aboukir’, the second is G-AAGX, and the third is G-AAUE/Hadrian, later impressed as AS982.

    I do have quite a few more photos from John’s collection, civil and RAF types from the period, both UK and Middle East.

    John,

    It was the 1st June 1960. According to ‘Lost to service’ – ‘VV298 Anson T21 Bomber Command Comms Sqn, RAF Northolt. Crashed into a dairy after engine failed on take-off’. There were no fatalities.
