    Hello Merlin

Some more details – Henry Boot and Ray Sturtivant have just published the book called “Gifts of War – Spitfires and other presentation aircraft in two world wars” and it is available from Air Britain http://www.air-britain.com/ for £37.50 (members) and £55.00 (non members).

I am awaiting my copy as I write this!! 🙂

    cheers

    Allan

thats the one Allan!! I just been sent some ‘flyers’ from Ray, looks a very comprehensive book, as usual from him! Up dated FAA fixed-wing book due in new year as well as FAA helicopters.

most were dissmantled in our hanger! they looked quite intacked, ideal for musems or cadets to use. Jags will be next on the for sale list!

i was lucky enough to meet Ray on quite a few occasions, whilst helping out at Duxford many years back. He always liked a chat and was a fantastic, if not the best, display pilot ever to grace the skies. May he rest in peace and condolences to his family. May Ray and Mark fly forever in the heavens!

atlast! managed to get to the restoration hanger today (another no-fly by the UAS!!) heres what i took. As you can see, the museum has alot to do until its ready for Display. I’m informed it took part in the Libyan raids and will be re-painted as it was then.

taken today. i asked about its re-build and was told that due to other comittments the RAF can’t spare anyone, so the Valiant is on hold for now.
