It won’t be seen on ebay or being fenced for sale. Its probably already been weighed in along with other stolen metal at the local scrap dealer. Anything metallic these days is not safe. Next door neighbour had an old cast iron bath taken from their drive, complete with the tiles from the bathroom that were in it. Must have weighed a ton and a half…. these type will have the fillings out yer teeth while you sleep. 😡
Central news report says “TVOC state 558 ‘will fly next week.’ “
😀
Think this may answer my last post!!
A post on the TVOC forum shows a NOTAM for 26th Oct for 09:50 to 10:15hrs Max height 025 for a BBMF flypast at Brunty. Has this been a long arranged flypast for a “media day” following the expected first flight on an earlier date, or have TVOC arranged it for a celebration “on the day” of 558’s return to flight? (keeping us on tenterhooks second guessing THE day when they’ve known all along!!! 😀 ) No mention of 558 in the NOTAM but as this period and flight level is already covered in the previous NOTAM, does it have to be? (sorry not au fait with NOTAM ‘protocol’) Strange that the “558” NOTAM covers to Nov 2nd and a BBMF flypast a week earlier? Must be fairly confident of getting her up on or before the 26th.
Secondly, as the police etc. are only allowing a max of 250 people to attend the first flight at Brunty, are there any amenable farmers/landowners in close proximity that may like to raise a quick buck [or should that be a black buck?!] (donating part to TVOC of course!) Could also go for the Guiness Book Of Records for the most amount of grown men in one place to have tears running down their face!
Thirdly, Have just got my rather old “Vulcan Display Team” t-shirt out of deep storage in expectant celebration, only to find that all the weight 558 has lost in her rebuild seems to have somehow transferred itself to myself. Tried it on and I looked like “comic book guy”……. Oh God.. Anyone know of a good crash diet to lose a couple of stone?
Just a couple from our recent sojourn to the sun.
I know they aren’t top quality (taken with my daughters £70 Vivitar point and shoot camera with a waterproof case) but I think it sums up what family holidays are all about.
BTW I love that 2nd photo. Very atmospheric.

Isn’t this what being a kid is all about, eh??!!

The Little Mermaid

Changing Sams name by deed poll to J. Christ!!

Will the author be doing a book signing event? I know a fairly decent hotel in Liverpool that does good rates.

Closes 27th September, but planning meeting is held on 1st August, so sign now if you have not already.
nearly 16,000 signings when I last checked.
The guys from AARSE and PPRuNe forums seem to have a rather effective offensive in place. the planning hearing can be viewd via webcast on Aug 1st on the mole valley website.

Like I said, I’m counting my blessings.
Can’t begin to think what it must be like.
Hope you manage to get things sorted quickly.
Best wishes,
Ivan

T’other fire engine is out of view! Could not get out of the house at its highest. Only the garage got flooded, so just soggy cycles etc although the welder has bought it! Next door and next door but one not so lucky. 2 to 3 inches in their houses and floorboards ripped up to pump out the footings. Not the first time this flooding has happened, but never to this extent. I’m counting my blessings.

Close your eyes and think of Lockerbie. Which image is the first in your mind? Would that be the piece they are thinking of showing? A very powerful and emotive image I think you would agree. That would be the most customer pulling and thought provoking exhibit I think, but……. not sure how I would feel about that.
I took a relative of a Lancaster crew member ((John Sills Rr Gunner) that crashed near to us in Wednesfield in ’45), to East Kirkby, after he had been to a memorial service here in wednesfield that we had organised for the 60th anniversary of the crash. He found visiting the Airfield his father was from was wonderful, but found the remains of the various pieces of other fatal accident wreckage in the hanger a bit disturbing. I think it was the fact that a nice green field with bluebells now covers the Lancs crash site and the sight of recovered wreckage somehow brought home the violence of his fathers death.
Edit: The late Bill Hicks once said, “how do you think Jesus would feel if he came back to life and saw us all wearing crucifixes….?? It would be like walking up to Jackie Kennedy wearing a rifle pendant….”
Difficult thing to decide upon ain’t it?
