No I don’t think the airlines should be held responsible, but I don’t think it’s as simple as that Sandy. My dad suffers with a disease called Lupus, which makes his blood thicker than it should be. However, he takes a drug called Warfarin which thins his blood, and so should make him less likely to get DVT than any other passenger on a plane. Yet, every long-haul flight we’ve been on in the past couple of years he has come home with a blood clot, twice nearly fatal and once made him very ill in hospital. I don’t know how you could explain him getting these clots, but I really don’t think it’s as simple as ‘rotating your foot’.
Yes Ndizani. Got this shot of it.
Still a few around Mark. It’s only the -300, so they’re still relatively new. I think SAA still has them doesn’t it?
Thanks! Erm well I just asked one of the cabin crew soon before landing if there was any chance I could get a look in the cockpit, and they said they’d see. Once on the ground try and make yourself one of the last out the aircraft, and then as you go past at the front just slow down and hope they say you can have a look! If you’re VERY lucky, you might get a friendly pilot, who lets ya do this! (Me in the captains seat 😀 )
Great pictures Britannia, makes spotting so much more interesting doesn’t it?! Also gives you something to look forward to when you get home….getting them accepted to the big sites!
Thanks for pointing that out Speedbird! Updated now, you can have a look at them! 😀 🙂
Great pic mate, well done. You always feel really excited and proud when your first pic gets accepted! Then you start heading for milestone numbers. You may target your first 10, then 20, then you see how many pages of results you can get when you search your name! 😀 I think I currently have 40 or so on planepictures, and only about 15 or so on jp 🙁
Down here where I live just a few miles from STN, we used to quite often be shook by the 1-11’s. The way it works out, is that if the wind is in a particular direction, they use the runway with the planes taking-off, engines facing away from us, and the wind carries the sound towards us! It would usually be incredibly loud considering we are still 3 miles from the runway, the most we get nowadays are the Ryanair -200’s and the FedEx MD-11’s usually cause a bit noise!
G-OBYA is now leased to Blue Panorama airlines as of 12th December 2003. Still registered F-GLOV, and is lsd from the Itochu company 🙂
Speaking of starting airlines, remember that ‘NAS Airlines’ guy? It hink it was something to do with flying to the Faroe islands, haven’t heard any more about it
It was the first and last plane to make me very nearly crap myself! 😀 I was in the approach field at STN whilst an old EAL one approached. Just as it was about to fly over my head, it’s engines roared into action and it made a tight bank abover my head (a go around). However, I wasn’t aware of what a go-around was in those days as a kid, and so for a moment I thought it was gonna crash!
Other than that, loved ’em! Used to see AB and EAL ones all the time here at STN, such a shame to not see them making their noise and billowing out their smoke any more.
Why would you be worried?! Didn’t know what to say?! If she rings you surely that’s a good thing, shows that atleast she even recognises you out of all the other billions of guys on thie Earth.

Damn, I was thinking about getting a cheap flight up on Easyjet from STN. Any news on when the work might be finished?
Already cacking yourself over Key Stage 3?! Ahah I wouldn’t if I were you. As I said, wait til you get to your GCSE’s, that’s when they actually count for something! Key Stage 3 is mainly just to assess how good the schools and the teachers are, not the individual pupils.
