“Does this have counter-rotating props, ie. one being a left hand tractor, and the other being a right hand tractor, in the same way as the Hornet’s 130 series Merlins?
If it does, are they rotating down towards the centre (like the Hornet) or upwards at the centre?”
Yes David. Props rotate inwards at the top. The project was incredibly lucky to find a very rare opposite rotation Merlin.
(Sorry, I don’t know the designation off hand, but It would be fairly easy to find by looking through the rebuild diary)

It’s a pretty good read. Hope that helps.

Wow!
What a beautiful piece of art!
Nice find sir

I don’t think anyone on this forum really cares for Spitfires.
Mods, please lock this thread. :dev2:
Seafire XV please.
Andy
Static.
It’s still going to be a huge job.
Lot’s of corrosion and Lancasters are BIG!
Andy
Oh,
I was going to say “great to see it flying again so soon!”:dev2:
Seriously though. Great to see this combat vet coming in out of the weather.

Here is a link to some really nice shots from my friend Eric Dumigan and his wife Bernadette.

I had the fortune to act as “taxi driver” with our Tiger Moth CF-MAD on Saturday.
There are three partners in our Moth and we all wanted to attend.
We are based about 20 minutes from Guelph so I made three trips back and forth.
It really was great fun!
Pretty nice turn out and fantastic weather. Best of the summer really. (It showed up kind of late here).
I headed back today and my friend requested a sausage from the grill.
I went from taxi driver to take out delivery 😮
Andy
This is very exciting news indeed.
I have not been able to see anywhere, where this machine is planned to be operated.
Does anyone know that bit of info?
Best of luck with this fantastic project.
Andy
No problem.
Thanks :eagerness:

Thanks for the cool link.
J Boyle.
I was referring to VR796 owned by Bob Jens. This Mosquito is Vancouver based.
The figures I quoted are approximate and serve to illustrate that the scale of distance is extremely large.
Hope that helps to clarify my point.
Andy
TV959 and VR796 are based about 50 miles from each other.
KA114 is close to three thousand miles away.
As terrific a sight as a three ship might be, I think the likelihood is not so great.
We’d all like to see it though, on that we can certainly agree. 🙂
Andy
Never apologize for posting pictures!
If some folks don’t like them then, that sir, is their problem.
Much appreciated.
Must have been a terrific sight and sound for sure. I can practically hear the Merlins crackling and backfiring in protest at that landing shot.
Any idea who was flying?
I hope the day comes when TV959 and VR796 meet up for an air to air two ship.
How cool would that be?!
Thanks again.
Andy
Me too!
Thanks Tony. Nice work.

What are you folks trying to do? turn this in to a replica of a Meteor? Those aren’t the seals it left the factory with!! :dev2::eagerness:
Great work folks. Great thread.
Andy
I just have to say that the standard to which you folks are working is absolutely first class.
Well done all. Marvelous.
Thanks for the update.
