I was never a particular fan but admired him for his charity work and enjoyed his TV shows when I was a kid. In some ways he was ahead of his time, I think he was the first DJ to talk to his audience rather than just anounce the records. His fashion sense seemed strange (to me at least) but when you look at the young hip-hop/rapper generation today with their medallions, jewelry and tracksuits, a look they think they invented, well Jim was doing that 40 years ago!
He seemed to have a strange lifestyle (from TV documentaries I’ve seen) and I have a feeling there will be some interesting stories about him coming out now.

    RIP Sir Jim.

Good suggestion Sky High, it’s worth a try and a signed photo would thrill my Mrs.
Paul178 if you get the chance go see her, you wont regret it. Her new album Better Day is excellent. All her own compositions, no covers.

Thanks for the update bubbles. Good luck with it all and I hope I get to see the display at last, been unlucky with weather and tech problems at previous shows.

Does anyone here know the latest on the likelihood of making the display at Yeovilton?

Went to see Tim Vine last night, still laughing and and smiling all day. Good clean silliness, just brilliant.

Another place near to me is Tintinhull, pronounced Tint’nel. My brother in law lives near Spooner Row, down the road from him is a little lane. It’s called Sluts Hole lane. The council are fed up with people nicking the road sign.

Down the road from me is Huish Episcopi. Dorset has the river Piddle, lots of places there with Piddle in the name. My sister used to live at Piddletrenthyde’
