Back on line at last. Many thanks for your words of encouragement and advice. He is really enjoying it. The humour or ‘Banta’ as he calls it has already started. I asked how his first day went and was told “well dad, I have signed the official secrets act so I could tell you but I would have to kill you afterwards”.

Many thank chaps. We are moving tomorrow so I will be without internet for a week or two. Hope everyone behaves when I am away.

Love the first comment on the article 😉

“There was a rumour that Steven Fry was going to write it.

Can you imagine..? Totally PC and ‘inclusive’ with 80% of the film focussing on a gay love affair between a pilot and a tail-gunner. (Oh and they did a bombing raid too – or something…)”

Do you honestly believe that there were no gay people in any of the armed services during WW2? Or at any time for that matter! Having read some of Fry’s books I’m fairly sure the screen play or whatever they call it will be excellent.

Love the program, watched the DVD many times and the book is superb. As to the comments on different generations, well, I have worked in education for 30 years and I can tell you each one is the same, they all think they invented sex, swearing, music and rebellion!! I can assure any doubters that there are some, no a lot, of damn fine youngsters out there who would not let us down if they were called upon for any situation. Don’t let the stories in the news cloud your view of today’s youth.

Just heard it reported that one of the Gnats has crashed but away from the car fest crowd, as others I hope there are no serious injuries. Crash investigators already on the scene according to the news report on the radio.

The ‘pillock’ that tried hacking my account in June was from France it seems.

The talents of Hammond escape me at the moment.

I can only think of two of his documentaries that were rather good (to me anyway). The one on Evel Knievel and his interview with Stirling Moss where they discuss their accidents and head injuries. I found the Brainiac stuff more juvenile than top gear.
I have enjoyed all the documentaries and shows that James May has done, particularly the Edge of Space where he flies in the U2. I hope he continues to make more of them.
