What is so hard to understand ? MiG-29K/KUB is the BASE for M/M2 and 35/35D not the other way around. Apart from avionics changes here and there (more on MiG-35), they just TAKE OFF really unusable naval items for a land plane, i.e. the hook ( they put a traditional brake chute instead), and probably the wing folding system (the wing being locked down). That’s it.
J-20 flew at least twice today.
Heard it did small radius turns and roll? no video confirmation yet
That would make it flight 6 and 7 , correct ? Boy are they moving or what …:)
I think someone high up in CAC definitely spend lots of time online.
When you question there product, they answer it ASAP:diablo:
If that’s so, can we please have a peak at the ventral bays/bay doors mister AVIC man sir? :p
It just states that that the Nizhny Novgorod Sokol intended to deliver to RSK MiG, components for the assembly of the first MiG-29M/M2s in 2010. So presumably the aircraft are already being built at this moment.
Not a lot of hard information, though, especially considering the present political situation in Syria?
Grateful for your help Levsha, thanks.:)
On another note , does anyone know the whereabouts of “961” and “967” at the moment ?
They come from here , Martinez. ( sadly haven’t seen more goodies like that on mr. RS’s blog :()

Well i’m sure the folks in the know would disagree imo. M/M2 and K/KUB are practically the same , the production line is already there. You don’t need another production line for the blinking chute fairing and locking the wings , isn’t it? Certainly not for the avionics imo, there might be some difference between the black boxes (more for MiG-35 -AESA etc), but surely they don’t need another production line for that.
J-20 Hotdog , if you read around a bit , you’ll see that the current MiG-29M/M2 of now have nothing to do with the MiG-29M of the eighties. The new M/M2 is based on the new MiG-29K/KUB ( which again , is not the same as the eighties MiG-29K’s). The new MiG-35, MiG-29M/M2 and K/KUB are very closely related airframe-wise, K/KUB serving as base for the two land based versions. ( In fact imho the difference is locking the wings in flight position and replacing the tail hook and fairing with a chute container)
Levsha, thanks for your help, much apreciated. 🙂 Please, what does it exactly says here “the first aircraft of this contract *something* this year ?” and here “*something something* complete aggregates *something* 2010?” Many thanks.
Good eye Mack, how long were you staring at that thing ;0
Had an obsession with MiG-31 and chaff and flare dispensers, been staring at them for long time.:p
By any chance is there info of which regiment operates bort “60”, and what other BM’s they operate ?Thanks. 🙂
Thanks SpudmanWP. 🙂
Hang on a second …what are those simetrically aranged dots on the fairing between the engines on the belly of MiG-31BM “60” , just after the missile launchers? Are those chaff and flares dispensers ?!
( i’ve looked at several more MiG-31BM pics , but there’s nothing there …)
Are there by any chance better belly shots of “60” ?
:p

So…anything new about T-50-2 from the insiders ? I pressume there are some more extensive ground tests on it before flying ?
The Su-33 is in dire need of an update.. and while Russia refused to sell SU-33’s to China unless it ordered a significant amount to justify re-starting the production line.. China went ahead and made their own line on its own.. and likely have created a version with updated avionics.
Could this also serve Russia’s interest in which it can acquire the J-15s to save time and money on its own Su-33 update?
Aren’t the Su-33 getting through a refurbishment at the moment ? Weren’t the first upgraded machines being re-delivered recently ? ( there are news about it on Sukhoi.org, can’t find it atm , the search system is cumbersome …at least for a non-russian :P)
Also CF-2 flew on the 30th of April …just keeping things up to date 😀
F-35A AF-8 first flight:

How many aircrafts of each type are in LRIP 2? Thanks.
Interesting- there seems to be a cover for the gun:

BIG photo
Perhaps they went for Su-35 and maby even T-50 for the same sort of gun cover like for Typhoon ( WW2 Spitfire style , to put it simply ).:)
