Use the force Luke, do you see pitot tube? 😉
PS: And Su-35S will fly, check the schedule.
Well to be fair, it only say Su-35 on the schedule .:) If rehearsals meen anything , probably good ol’ 901 will be flown at the show.
Right. What are we looking at here ? Is this 741 with the bort number erased , or is this a brand new M airframe ? (date of picture aparently Aug.8-today)

Awesome pic! I have been out of touch recently, do you have links for more pics of the training? Going to see the show myself tho, live, two days. 🙂
I’ve asked the folks from mycitymilitary where they got their M2 pictures, i got these two links from them.

On to far more important things and at least one category where LM trails far behind- ‘Miss KnAAPO’ contest on Friday.
Aaahh!…beauty AND brains…I can’t decide between #1 and #7:
Probably the LM has one too, but only for fat girls (coz that’s the only type they got over there ):D
One of the many new MiG-29M2 pictures around. Practising for the 12th of aug. show (including with T-50!).

Is this 053 here ? I can’t be sure because of the distance …:)
(That’s MiG-29M2 btw. Flateric said they appear in the Russian aviation day schedule as flying together, or something like that. Hands up who wishes they have the Su-35S there too )

Anyway: like i said with other occasions , the HMS /R-73/MIG-29/Su-27 combo would have posed a very nasty surprise for good ol’ US/NATO if the big shootout happened in 1990 or 91. No ex-GDR examples and missiles and radars testing here. Allegedly the americans (and other NATO pilots) trained long and hard for dogfight, getting behind the enemy and shooting him with the AIM-9Ms, and in the case of the F-16s, surviving the initial BVR volley (if my memory is not wrong , i’m sure i read in a contemporary publication that they were expecting 50% losses in the run up to the merge).
Now imagine the big shootout happening sometime in 1990 or 1991, and imagine this F-16 either strike or counter-air package, suddenly “spiked” by Slot Backs, the RWR is screaming “Alamo incoming!”, everyone is in a frenzy to evade, some do, some inevitably won’t , and after running the gauntlet of “Alamos” , finally they mix it up with those evil commie MiG’s, eager for revenge, only to discover not only that those evil MiGs can turn every bit as good as an F-16 (if not better in some cases), but also that they have missiles they can seemingly fire from impossible positions (to them)!
Btw regarding AIM-9M’s pk , well in the Gulf War , the puny russian flares could decoy the “undecoyable” . From a MiG-25. In full afterburner! Nuff said.
Second btw, and off-topic admitelly, i just realized that for instance the LW Phantoms were not even upgraded in 1991, they were still AIM-9L only. Well, probably the survival time for those 150 of them available would have been what, half a day? Good “ace-in-a-day” targets for the russians and the east-germans. But i digress.
In regards to the MiG-29’s short range for some missions, don’t forget about the Su-27. They would have been there too. 😉
So much for the “J-10B is just a J-20 testbed etc.” Looks like it will be a powerful gen 4+ 🙂 (an ESA radar , IRST , a powerful engine, plus things you don’t see in a picture , like the MMI , weapons , self defense suite etc., i’m sure the Chinese are doing their very best in these domains too )
Any idea of when the first regiment on J-10B will be standing up ?:)
Impressive photo of Tu-214R.
Aug. 3:)

Does anyone know if 053 flew aswell these days?
