Just got a letter from Trevor Snowden of Airfix, The Hunter is not owned by Airfix, Humbrol or Hornby, its owner is mr Grant Thornton from Leeds.I’m wondering if any of you guys know of him?. there are calls on the Airfix forums like the one i run, and the Airfix Tribute forum run by a friend of mine for this aircraft to be saved. lets just hope it is before the vandals do more damage to her.

    all the best.

I must admit i begrudge paying for the license as i very rarely watch TV, maybe an hour a week at most if i bother at all, and never the BBC, the MRS watches about two to three hours a week and if it wans’t for her i would get rid of it and not have to pay the fee’ any films i have on dvd i could watch on the computer. to be honest i prefer to read. (boring git ain’t i :p )

Hi, i forgot to mention that my 9000’s were stick shift, not autos, you will have a drop in mpg with the auto but not by as much as you are getting, those injector cleaners are not 100% at getting all the build up out of the system and i really would advise having them taken out and done properly. another thing i would watch on the Saab is the fuel pump, its an in tank one and they are prone to just packing in with no warning. (i’ve had two go on me) have a spare just in case, they are not difficult to fit, just a pain. and they are not cheap either, it may be worth your while given Saab prices in the states to contact a Saab specialist this side of the pond who do mail order (not a dedicated Saab dealer though) you may make a saving on parts.

Hi, yep your right, i am a Saab fanatic, i miss mine and am looking forward to the day i can get another, i’d like to get a 9-5 estate/station wagon but its out of my price range at the moment. the 9-3 i lost to the now ex mrs in the divorce 😮 😡 but never mind, for parts is there a Saab owners club in your country?. there is in quite a few and they can be a good source for cheaper parts. 19 mpg is a bit much btw, i regularly got 28 – 30 out of mine, maybe the injectors could do with cleaning?. or maybe a lighter right foot?;)

    all the best.

Interesting reading, this ones mill serial isn’t far off mine, VF519, this one is definitly in need of a load of restoration work, all thats left of her at the moment is the fuselage frame and a few bits i have sourced. have you guys any idea of the units VF512 served with?. just wondering as i am trying to find out the markings mine would have carried, after de-mob 519 was converted to a terrier 2 G-ASYN. any info would be greatfully recived.

    all the best.

Cheers Dave. my memory may be at fault, i seem to remember that the article said the pic was from the 70’s but i could well be wrong. to be honest i can’t remember if it was in flypast or aeroplane but i know i will have the mag somewhere as i always keep them.

    all the best.
