Have a peek on Ebay for the amount of V1 parts for sale. Seems to be a steady stream although i’ve no idea how genuine they are.
Well done to the Beeb for a change, great coverage!!

It’s a manual computer for use with the Mark 14 wartime bombsight as fitted to British heavy bombers. Without digging the books out i think it was located on the Lancaster in a small slot underneath the Bomb aimers kneeling cushion so that it could be used in an emergency if the main bomb computer packed up.
There are quite a few of these about and maybe ‘Air Ministry’ might be able to add some more information but my gut feeling is that these maybe early post war issue as the AM stamp has been replaced by the Crowsfoot.
I should be able to assist. Ive got a dismantled Romney shed, nissen huts and a couple of wooden framed Air Ministry blister hangars. I salvaged them over the years with a view to setting up a museum but there is plenty for what i need.
Always fancied a visit myself, any pictures of the passenger compartment, looks like an interesting place.
Try watching the whole series, they start to get quite addictive. Secret Army still wins my vote though!
This is a great project but I can’t say I’m a fan or overly impressed with the designs. Non of them immediately say ‘Bomber Command’ and I personally think they are a typical arty statement of modern architecture that will benefit the designers portfolio and give little meaning to their true purpose.
Will be very interested to see what the general opinion is and I hope that polite courtesy won’t see any of these designs selected.
This is a unique opportunity to produce something special, London got it spot on and I hope the Trusties have a major rethink as I doubt anyone viewing the memorial from Lincoln will have a clue what it is.
Any F24/F52 camera related stuff would be very much appreciated please.
Thanks
If the focus is based on the Cold war then it will compliment the WW2 museums around the region nicely. With all that lovely hangar space it certainly makes sense to save all those airframes that sit outside dodging the scrap man. We all know that the Great British weather does very little for preservation.
That’s the Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue urban training facility, each of the former ammo bunkers contains a different environment scenario. The demolition site that you saw simulates earthquakes, train smashes etc etc
Is there anything left at Scampton? All the original station items with obvious genuine Dambuster stores labels provinanance seems to have been sold on Ebay. 🙂
Sounds like a great scheme to me if the newspaper article is anything to go by. A perfect use for the site and lots of potential.
I’ve just finished this for my Lancaster navigators table build and thought it might be of interest. The AMU and the suppressors will be the same for the Stirling but not sure about the mount as I made it from the AVRO drawings. Once the weather warms up i’ll spray it up properly.
Think you may have a point there, I’ve received one newsletter in 2 years not that it is any issue, only too pleased to contribute to a worthy cause.
