Off on a tangent i know….. But better choice of aircraft and a project more likely to succeed would be the people’s Vickers Wellington, a national volunteer base to gather all the scattered museum wimpy parts. Done as a publicly driven organisation would surely be the only chance of success to persuade the various museums to donate their parts for a common goal.
I’ll join
Just think about all those anti aircraft defences, what goes up must come down somewhere…..
What a great project. I maybe able to help out with a square RPM gauge if you haven’t already got one?
Would that be an Auster artical being 651 Sqn? Would be very interested myself to read that if you manage to track a copy down.
What about adding some more to the halibag? The nose, nav and wireless compartments would look nice sat next to the cockpit.
Are there any accounts of what happened to Harry after the Germans found it? Surely it would have been blown up too leaving very little to find now?
Thanks Chaps, talk about complicated. Looks to be quite an advanced system.
I doubt that it will be a massive waste of money as i bet the Station spray bay would have welcomed some work although I can’t help but thinking that it looks PANTS 😮 Hardly a WW2 Bomber theme.
Lost opportunity me thinks.
Hopefully we can find it a good home now, if it is of interest to anyone then please PM me.
The airfield research group forum is the mecca for airfield buildings. They are a very helpful bunch.
Wow!!!!! I knew the forum wouldn’t fail, thanks gents, the level of knowledge on here is truly unbelievable. How the Ell could you match that to such a rare turret? My guess was some sort of Canberra nose camera cover.
My mates uncle brought it decades ago to make a tractor windscreen with.
Over 100 views and no replies, am I the first to beat the forum?
Thanks for the replies, i’ve seen loads of Stirling pictures with ladders up to the Bomb aimers position but having searched the internet i cant seem to find a single one . Has anyone seen any reference to these?
I take it you have tried unscrewing the cap first before trying to pump it?
