The geography is accepted as harsh but as the crow flies 20 miles is 20 miles from Oslo.
Minutes by police or service ‘chopper’.
Most of those kids had mobiles and would have been calling or sending text messages once they realised what was happening. Their families knew where they were and would have been bombarding the police with alerts, so it is back to realising that the huge diversion in Oslo caused delays that all nations must learn from.

“Where the smoke is visible isn’t the only place where ‘fire’ can erupt”.

He already succeeded in a large diversion from early police attention to Utoeya

He already succeeded in a large diversion from early police attention to Utoeya by planting or knowing of the timing of the bombs in Oslo.

He could be stating a fact/fiction in the hope of further diversion of attention, delay of material investigation in to his actions, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-14280210

Either way it sounds like the Norwegian authorities require the support of experts from allied nations who can keep the intensity of all investigations going, by forming multi European teams.

The only uniform I hope he soon will be wearing is prison clothes (if Norway’s prisons stipulate so).

Whether his claims of other ‘cells’ or similar extremist groups is correct the fact is the world knows they exist (known to him or otherwise), the only issue is how powerful, where and how much is known (if any) by the law enforcement authorities about their activities.

Democracy can be it’s own executioner at times.

We define the area under the curve that says ‘normal behaviour’

We define the area under the curve that says ‘normal behaviour’.

This individual defined his own ‘normality’ along with a few other like minded strange individuals. Adolf Hitler, Idi Amin, Sadam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden and Velupillai Prabhakaran (LTTE leader) had similar nonsensical ideologies that of course they firmly believed in to be right.

It is a fact that the ‘normal’ amongst us consider pre meditated murder of innocents whether by planting bombs, shooting kids, etc worthy of severe punishment by incarceration (ideally for life) for the safety of others and this I hope will be the case of other such ‘crazy’ (dare I use the word) behaviour patterns in the future.

Jim you like most of the sensible people on this forum are …

Jim you like most of the sensible people on this forum are getting frustrated with ill planned strategies simply put through by commercial greed and ratified by some politicians that actually rip off the older generations who have built this nation and held it together through two world wars (maybe no survivors of the 1st any more).

The younger generations have got so blasé that they do not recognise (or chose not to) that there is a war on (military in some quarters) but worse there is an economic war on that will take a lot of us down further. 😡

So less nightclubbing and drip feeding of Red Bull like stimulants:mad: and a little more addressing of conscientious work (using their brains if not pickled as yet) during paid hours may even now rescue a bad situation.:D

Met To Probe Far-Right Links Of Norway Suspect

    http://uk.news.yahoo.com/met-probe-far-links-norway-suspect-001750512.html
“The Metropolitan Police have been asked to help the investigation into a massacre in Norway that left at least 93 people dead and more than 90 wounded.
Scotland Yard’s counter terrorism chief, assistant commissioner ……., has been requested to supply specialist officers to join a new European task force dedicated to investigating European-wide far right links to a bomb attack in Oslo and a shooting spree on Utoya Island….”

This is what it requires. The rapid search in places of modern safety – e.g. Universities. I can confirm that there were and are radicals of all colours and faiths in the University I recently graduated from. I cannot speak about other universities who may screen entrants better.
An openly self confessed LTTE supporter of great wealth (parents own several very large businesses in Malaysia including a motor cycle manufacturing company). There were many ride by shootings in Sri Lanka and many of the motor cycles originated from the same company. Found the attack and destruction of several Sri Lankan government air force aircraft at a Northern base extremely enjoyable (making his amusement public).

The irony is that this individual was being vilified by some in the University (staff and students) who probably found his wealth (overseas fees) more attractive than his complete anti social attitudes. He would bribe contract security guards with meals and park his vehicle anywhere on the campus with no paid permit claiming otherwise he may be the victim of a car bomb (a total load of twaddle as no one in that University bar he had the means or motive to plant car bombs). The police and authorities had note of this individual but again in Scotland (Megrahi scandal) it seems that all criminals get a soft approach.

Then also a few extreme Europeans that if they are reviewed by a psychologist would hardly be funded by any government for a University course. In some cases what some EU states want rid of the same University seems to relish taking the fees for.

Here are 2 recent public scandals at the same University –
    http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/news/article2233143.ece
    http://edinburghnews.scotsman.com/topstories/9am-Briefing-39Barbaric39-killer-given.4972887.jp
We were astounded to learn that this individual was actually on some lectures in our 60-100 strong accounting/finance lecture rooms.

If you were a parent of a young woman or man would you feel comfortable that the political correctness found it acceptable that such a vicious type was permitted freedom of this level without anyone else being aware to be sitting beside your children at University?
Sure I have had the reasoning thrown at me about ‘forgive and forget’, ‘he was reformed’, ‘ he was only a kid when he stabbed a man 100 times’ – 100 times says it all (not once, not twice a 100 times)

It eventually ended up that he was even over the summer at high cost being brought over to an otherwise sparsely populated campus and was seen cavorting around in the University grounds (no escort) with this oversexed liberal Polish girl.

Yes we have to avoid ‘witch hunts’ but to be discerning and screen University and other training course students that are none local or are in prison and or have a police record is an absolute must.

After all 9/11 was due to training of undesirables on large airliners who had no known/recognised sponsoring airline supporting their training.

Greed overtakes even training organisations and universities which can place the majority local peaceful island race within the UK at high risk.

Think about it – isn’t the safety and strength of an island race built on it being an island and staying together?

I hope other European nations if asked provide Norway with advice for the future

I hope other European nations if asked provide Norway with advice for the future.

Not in any way suggesting that the Norwegians are bereft of brains, far from it – but it is apparent that Norway had reached a stage of possible ‘falsely complacent’ peace in that as a nation it ignored the ‘badness’ surrounding and within it (albeit a minority).

The UK has had it’s more than fair share of atrocities (7/7), Lockerbie, Northern Ireland and IRA on the mainland and hence can if requested provide Norway with professional advice on being prepared.

Case in point is that diversionary tactics are used by terrorists and conventional war strategists, hence being completely caught up in the bombs blasts in Oslo failed to deploy forces to Utoeya island sooner than 90 minutes.
How many less young people’s lives would have been lost if this response had been sooner than 90 minutes?

I am not admonishing Norway (a country I have great admiration for and have close relatives there) just making a plea that the entire Western world (pull together) and take this as a loud wake up call, that bad people with oodles of time on their hands can strike anywhere, any time.

In the aftermath of badness more exploitation of the innocent occurs through forced government spending leaving less resources for essential social service benefits and healthcare to the less able.

In fact in some cases we have gone against the physics/chem. of the building material

In fact in some cases we have gone against the physics/chem. of the building materials

With no offence meant to anyone that had cavity wall insulation. In most cases brick, breeze block, etc used especially in outer walls require to ‘breathe’ and/or expand. By adding material of a distinct contrast there is a possibility that we have altered this normal phenomenon. This may have consequences on the longevity of the building fabric.

Loft insulation – the material used is fibre glass with the emphasis on ‘glass’ and as we all know just laying it requires protective gear (goggles, nose mask and gloves).

In many cases for convenience central heating radiators are positioned below windows. ?????

In making our homes hermetically sealed we do ourselves no good with respect to medium to long term health (infections breed in warm humid air).

I have some gentle suggestions (it does not have to be all that are implemented, many more suited to specific circumstances)-

Induction hobs (now quite affordable) 30% or more savings with instant pot only warming efficiency. (check any UK website). Do not require a complete renewal of pots/pans – test if a fridge magnet sticks to pot/pan then it should work with induction. Le Crouset are definitely known not to work on induction.

Modern internal shutters (manual in preference to electric) works in Europe. In most cases room stays warm during winter and in summer it can be like air conditioned comfort if the sun’s heat gets over bearing. Again if ‘jobs worth’ council employees can see fit to address planning permission as one encompassing both beauty/environment with modern functionality.

Solar panels – government free scheme with sell back options to national grid provided a wall is available 90 degrees south facing and planning permission can be obtained.

Again storm porches, conservatories, storm doors, can all add a partial air lock to prevent more heat loss.

Most of the above aren’t to be considered ways of slowing down escape in the event of a fire or explosion.

Jim – fleeing to the tropics/equator which soon will be searing hot is not a solution for a man with your brain and contribution to the UK
