Same thing occurred to me Paul, now, isn’t there a Shackleton some place that might need a spot of ca$h in the future http://www.mocgb.net/forums/images/smilies/yahoo/39.gif 😀

Not the same thing though is it, yes I have contributed to the Vulcan in the past and regard it as money well spent, that does not mean that without the Vulcan, I would automatically pour money in to some other project.

This may sound harsh, but you mention a Shackleton I would not contribute directly to returning a Shackleton to flight, to preserving one in ground running condition or rescuing one from the scrap man.

The Vulcan pulled in cash from beyond aviation enthusiasts, there are very few projects which could do that, it is fairly obvious that this is likely to be it’s last season and as such many will see little point in pumping in more money just for one more season.

You are suffering a serious obsessive delusion, you’re concern over the left wing element of the BBC is touching, but I wouldn’t let it worry you too much, you see there are just as many if not more, who feel that the BBC has a right wing “establishment” bias.

Provided the BBC can manage to annoy both sides of any debate I would think they are getting it about right.

The article does describe The Maldives as Islamic, with elements of British common law and Sharia law within its legal system, make your own mind up as to whether the judgement on the young girl is cultural or religious , my money is on Sharia law.

Back to the OP I had a nice email from Scottish Power increasing my gas and electricty to £152 from £98 per month last November they knoked it down from £111 I have always been in credit. What has changed in the last 12 months? I have had a new fuel efficient central heating system installed and double glazed the house with super a rated whatsits. How the hell do they get to that(its to late tonight to talk to them)

Just building up their own cash reserves using your money and of course probably a good few others besides, then the competitive, efficient  power companies will explain how they have actually done you a favour, as you will go into next winter well in credit prior to them ripping us off again.

Just think of the interest on that £1 now :dev2:

Sod the interest, think what that £1 was worth in the sixties, I could fill my car up with petrol (early sixties granted) now it wouldn’t even register, Jim should settle the debt in return for a tank of fuel. 🙂

    Donated to the poor…..

Bloody good idea, after all it’s not a safety issue, simply a labelling one. I can understand companies not being happy though as a donated free meal is one less sale. But when you think of those starving the world over, there are a lot of countries could benefit, not just in Europe. I believe a few priests have added their weight to the campaign, for what it’s worth Horse is leaner than beef so better for you….

    I’m for it.

If the stuff was correctly labelled and priced I would bet that it could be sold anyway, the problem in all this is one of unknown ingredients getting into the food chain, with finances tight many people would lose their problems with horse meat at the right price and properly documented.

Personally although not a devotee of processed ready meals have no particular objection to eating horse, provided saddles are removed first of course.

When the Charter comes up for renewal, there will be two factors prominent. One is that it has failed to meet its Charter. The other is that broadcast media has become ‘legacy’ media and has been superceded by the Web. The inevitable conclusion is that BBC will no longer be compulsorily funded, but voluntarily, and set free from government mandate to be Charter-bound. BBC then will become whatever the funders want it to be, thereby injecting a higher level of quality into our overall legacy MSM and new Web media mix.

    Steven

Do you seriously believe that making the BBC a commercial channel would improve anything? remember but for the phone hacking scandal this government were on the point of handing a broadcasting monopoly to a certain unsavoury character, this same individual had long whined about the BBC being funded.

The only good thing to come out of that scandal was the curbing of Murdoch’s ambitions.
